Is this rule possible?

I need a rule that does something along these lines...

"Go via trackmark X"
>>>"Wait for next signal to be green, whilst waiting align all junctions to next waypoint/objective, continue when light is green."<<<
"Got to Y"

Obviously to work it would need to release all junctions every 5 - 10sec, wait 5 sec then realign them so that anything already on that line doesn't get 'stuck'.

Is it possible to create this rule, or are there certain aspects that make it too difficult to create or rule it out completely?

I have no idea if such a rule is available but in Heartbeat Revisited 2 I have simply used invisible track and switches placing these junctions on the approach side of signals to achieve this effect when using AI controlled consists and active stations

Isn't that what the paths rule does?

Chris.

Perhaps, I should check that out, the only problem is that I want to avoid having to assign exact paths through yards and stations. I am trying to use trackmarks on the lines between loops, stations and yards, and tell the trains to go via each trackmark allowing them to choose their own path through the yards etc, if you understand what I mean.

I don't think you need a special rule. If you want the train to drive from TM X to TM Y then just have no signals between X and Y. To get a green from the X departure signal, all junctions to Y must be aligned.

Allowing trains to plot their own route through congested trackwork may lead to slow operation. Every train is going to try for the same route (the shortest). If the shortest is not available, they should take the next shortest, but not always. You may get a bank up of trains waiting to use one route while alternative routes remain empty...

Andy ;)
