also it is not fair when some one uses dependencies from other routes
when you cant get the item from any other place.
that means that you have to download the other routes to get the missing
items that you need to complete the route

<kuid:654715:300011> is a speedtree for TS12. These old (v5) speedtrees aren't useable in TANE or later versions of Trainz.

The problem is in the asset <kuid:654715:300001> SpedTree birch 1 library (spelling error as shown, not a good sign!) by Cap1e.

From my limited understanding of error messages it appears that this asset was designed for Speed Trees Version 5. Speed Trees v5 no longer work in Trainz from TS12?? onwards (and before you complain, this was the fault of the Speed Trees developer who, almost overnight, forced all licensees including N3V to switch to Speed Trees v6).

Why hasn't Cap1e updated this asset to v6? Possibly because the Speed Trees developer licence involves paying a fee (not to N3V) or he/she may not be involved in Trainz anymore.

Why hasn't N3V updated this asset? Possibly for the same licensing reason and possibly because updating it would break it for versions before TS12 where it should still work.

My advice, delete it and move on.

There is no problem with using dependencies that are also used in other routes.

I am guessing that you are referring to route creators that include assets that cannot be found on the DLS? For example the assets are from a web site that may have closed down or is behind a paywall of some sort so it is impossible to find those assets. Yes, this is a problem that is made a lot worse if the route creator does not tell you the address of the web site containing the missing asset.

There is no rule stating that a route creator can only use assets from the DLS. Some asset creators refuse to upload their assets to the DLS because they do not like N3V's terms and conditions. That is their right. Unfortunately it can make things very difficult for the rest of us.

My policy is that if I download a route containing assets that are not on the DLS or built-in to Trainz then I do not bother wasting my time looking for them. I make an assessment of the route. If I judge that the route is :-

• worthy of keeping and that the missing assets are not vital to its operation - e.g. scenery items such as trees, etc - then I will find replacements for those assets from the DLS
• not worthy of keeping or the missing assets are vital to its operation - e.g. track, signals, etc - then I delete the route and keep any DLS assets it has installed

I also go to considerable lengths to ensure that all the routes and sessions that I upload to the DLS only contain assets that are on the DLS or built-in to the particular version of Trainz I am using.
