Is there another way to do this than TransDem?

I am wondering is there another way to copy images from google earth(or maps) and putting in trains surveyor other than using transdem?

I have TRS: Mac

If it's a program it has to be compatible with the Mac.

Yes, there is. Do a search for basemaps.

Matt.

TransDEM

TransDEM will run under Wine in Linux. I would think that it would also be possible under Mac using similar technology.

Strangely, TransDEM runs faster under Linux with better memory respons than Windows. Still trying to get TS12 to work under linux. It loads, main screen comes up but very very slow to load a route. CMP works as well.

Peter

Okay Thanks for the base maps idea. I don't want to use Transdem, since I have a Mac and it's kind of confusing running progress with wine.

Feel free to PM or EMail me, and I will explain and tutor you on basemaps.

Heck ... I might even crop a Google Earth or Topo Map image of your requested area, and send it to you, if you ask.

Oftentimes laying track on a DEM is a huge PITA ... Flat basey haboards can be used and terrain generated all by hand, making a highly believable route.

If I had used flat baseboards ... I would have had my route finished a year ago ... from Camden/Philadelphia, via Reading & Lancaster, all the way to Pittsburgh.
