As far as I know, this is not possible as textures for ground cover do not have clearly defined edges. I woiuld suggest using GMax or Blender to make a 10-metre (or 5-metre) square 'slab' of minimal height, perhaps 0.05 metre, and giving this the texture you want for your one grid square. It can then be used as many times as you like!
If you have problems doing this, let me know.

Hello Kurt
My mention of GMax is because that is what I use; others recommend Blender but at my age I don't want to start learning a new program!
A simple box like this would be an ideal first project - but make sure that if you choose GMax you use it via 'Trainz Asset Creation Studio' so that your model can be directly exported to Trainz.
There are several tutorials available if you need any help - or you already have my email address and I would be delighted to answer any questions.
If you choose Blender, there are many creators who can help with that, too - but not me!
Thank you for your good wishes for 2012 - and I wish you a very Happy and Fulfilling New Year.

Copy & Paste textures on one grid, perhaps ?

You'll find two excellent Gmax tutorials for beginners at this site: http://trainz.christrup.net/TRS/tut5.html I used them to get started in Gmax.
Don't be afraid to ask for advice in 'Content Creation Support'. There are a lot of members there who are anxious to help out.

TRS can only 'paint' on the vertices of the terrain, so really where each surveyor gridline intersects. because of this there is no way to get a hard edged texture inside a grid sqaure.
Since this is the first route you are building (and for the record, thats also the level I am acting on), lets forget about the solution you have in mind for a second. Is it possible to paint just 1 square of the grid?![]()
If it's possible, how did you do it?
It may be worth the time to investigate Blender. It's fully supported and upgraded regularly. Some content creators find it easier to learn/use.
Since this is the first route you are building (and for the record, thats also the level I am acting on), lets forget about the solution you have in mind for a second.
My question to you: What is the actual "problem" you are trying to solve? Maybe there is another solution that also solves it thats more standard-trainz-out-of-the-box-route-building without having to jump into self building.![]()
The only solution would be a 10-metre square scenery object, or 10-metre wide spline.
I could send you one with for example a grass texture. You could then alter this to your heart's content - and then save it with your own KUID. Make several different ones, by altering the graphic (tga.) in diferent ways. If I make the tga. file larger enough, you could alter it to have lawns, paths, flower beds, just as you wish so that there is a different garden for each house. Of course, each one will add to the number of objects to display in your route and (in theory) reduce the frame rate, but as each would be no more than 10 polys with edges, or 2 as a plane object, this would hardly matter.
All I ask, as always with any modifications of my creations, is for a simple acknowledgement as the original author if you upload any.

I've just done a simple 10m x 10m grass square - now I need to write the config, test it and then I'll send you a CDP with some more suggestions.
Angelah has some grass splines on the DLS that may be useful to you.
