Hi I have bought a new compter it is a AMD Phenom (th) x 6 1035T Processor 2.6GHz.4GB ram Navida Geforce 315 video card to replace my old one which was getting tired I have been having trouble re installing Trainz 2004 Is ok 2006 Has been a real pain so I bought 2010 (have run the up to date patches) to try that and it will run to a fashion but it sometimes run a little jerkily if that is the right word. Have been back to Argos Tech people and they say that the processer is not fast enough has anybody got any better ideas :(

What is an Nvidia Geforce 315???

To me it looks like an older chipset nearly 100% comparable to the ATI 5450. The fill rate is faster and the power consumption is substantially more (typical of NVidia).

Brad:

Honestly, unless you're on a strict budget, and or your system can't handle anything better, I would go for a better video card. This chipset is now at the lower levels compared to the NVidia 400 and 500-series chips.

Re-numbered OEM stock sold as retail, probably from the 200 series and apparently not very good, from a quick search the words sluggish, snail and don't bother come up. It seems to be a low level entry card and it appears to only be 64 bit, Probably worse than the card its replacing.

To the OP, Argos obviously don't have any technical staff but idiots, as a Phenom is more than capable of running Trainz comfortably, the bottle neck will be that graphics card.

You have enough system RAM and I suspect your CPU is good enough for Trainz. I would get a better video card. A GT440 would do well. A better card would do beter still if you could aford it and if your power supply is powerful enough.

I have an NVidia (PNY) 470 for sale, but the cost of shipping would outweigh the cost of the card!
