Well, im a little bored, so I thought id jot down my ideas on what real-life locos the Island of Sodor locos are based on (:hehe:). So here they are:

Thomas: Fowler 3F Jinty 0-6-0T
Edward: Fowler 2P 4-4-0'
Henry: Stanier 5MT Black 5 4-6-0*
Gordon: Gresley A3 4-6-2
James: Fowler Hughes Crab 2-6-0
Percy: L&YR 0F Pug 0-4-0T*
Toby: GER J70**
Duck: GWR 57xx 0-6-0PT
Oliver: GWR 14xx 0-6-2T
Neville: SR Bulleid Q1 0-6-0
BoCo: Metrovick Co-Bo Diesel
Diesel, Arry, and Bert: BR Class 09 0-6-0
Jock: Ravenglass & Eskdale "Northern Rock" 2-6-2
Arthur: Fowler 4MT 2-6-4
Duke and Bertram: Ffestiniog #2 "Prince" 0-4-0
Derek: BR Class 14 0-6-0
Mavis: BR Class 04 Tram Version 0-6-0
Wilbert: BR J94 Austerity 0-6-0


Those are the ones I can think of. if you have any contradictions post them here.

Well, Now I know a lot more about the specifications of the engine's. I don't think hardly anyone knew what sort of class Toby was.
 
I based most of them (Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, Percy, Duck, Oliver, Neville, Jock) from models I have in-game, but the others (James, BoCo,) are pure guesses. Like stated, Percy and Henry are based on Sodor Island 3D's NWR photos of the locos. I also just added Stepney, Arthur, Bert, Arry, Duke, Bertram, Mavis, Wilbert and Derek to my first post.


Here are the ones I don't know:

1. Clive, Matt, and Neil
2. Mike, Bert, Rex, Frank, and the Blisters
3. Skarloey, Peter Sam, Smudger, Duncan, Sir Handel, Rusty, Culdee, Lord Harry and Rheneas
4. Bill, Ben, Daisy, and Lady

Mavis: BR Class 04 Tram (as seen on the Wisbech)
Percy's a GWR Avonside 0-4-0 T with a bunker added.
Stepney: SR Terrier A1X
Donald and Douglas: Caledonian Railway 812 Class
Daisy: Supposedly a single-car version of the BR Class 101, some argue a class 121.
Bill & Ben are based on the Port of Par Peckett 0-4-0T Tank Engines Alfred (Albert?) and Judy with cut-down cabs.
Thomas is definitely an E2.
Obviously the Skarloey Railway's locos are based on those of the Talyllyn, the Culdee Railway on the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the Arlesdale on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.
Wilbert & 16 are Hunslet Austerities.
The Diesel is a class 40.
Bear is a Hymek
Murdoch is a 9F
Arthur's an LMS Ivatt 2-6-2T
 
sorry to contradict you, alex, but I have a very old diecast model of Arthur, and it depicts him with 4 rear wheels.

Thanks for Daisy, the Diesel and Bear, whick were unknown by me, Bill / Ben, The SK Railway locos, and Donald / Douglas.

I had forgotten about Murdoch and Stepney before. thanks for helping me remember.

James is actually a Lancarshire & Yorkshire Railway Hughes '28' class 0-6-0, rebuilt as 2-6-0 on arrival to Sodor. To be honest James isn't really based off anything, but he is most certainly not a "Crab".
