Integrate a DEM Tool Into Trainz ALREADY

I just made a quick tally - 5 released (not including variations on a theme which would bump that up a bit!). There are four more that got a long long way in before they got abandoned for one reason or another. There are EIGHT more that never got as far as a published screenshot. Every single one started with near fanatical enthusiasm. And it has to be said that of the released routes only one (a little nine-board flight of fancy) are actually complete, the rest are all parts of a greater route and if I was being specially honest I would have to admit that at least two of the 'major' projects will in all likelihood never see another release.

Wandering dangerously close to back on-topic, of the total of seventeen one is freelance terrain, one is TransDEM and all the others are HOG/MicroDEM. I have no idea how many hours went into creating the DEM terrains, but most of them are seriously big in-game double, triple and even quad merges . I don't begrudge one second of the time spent though.....

trying not to go off topic myself with this post

LUCKY they never made a DEM tool and left it to people with knowledge and professionalism to produce a finished product and maintain and expand it so well for so many years, yes TransDEM. Thanks Phil!
Myself in 2004 I played and exercised with HOG, Microdem and soon as Transdem hit the roads I acquired his and loved it from the first minute.
I created over 2.000 KM of prototypical terrain from Vancouver to Calgary so not just something for a kind fast food tool to make hills or terrainz myself, not gonna work not even close. It resulted approx. into 50K baseboards over 5 major routes get the picture? Yes working, trust me know kind of what I am doing :p lol.

The route I show now is 1 out of 5 waiting for next releases all with terrain as it should be 1:1. Knowledge, patience, lots of time and guts etc is was you need to create but the result is worth the climb.

When I was 9 I was the only one in our family almost youngest out of 5 back in the mid 50ies who dared to climb gletchers with a group of older more experienced skiers and take walks late night early morning walking up the trail by foot, on skies with cat or rabbit fir I think it was under it or similar to climb on skies and go for 5-6 hours one way to the summit.

The view at arrival at the summit and Talfahrt or downhill ski was more than worth the suffering same for building a route with Transdem in Trainz. almost off topic but related to why not and why yes do things...

N3V lucky not go this road by accident rather than policy and should spent every minute in making trainz better and more user friendly for real route builders.
NOT ONE of my suggestions and all little ones(with huge time savings for the user) in the menu structure open menu men close etc etc was ever addressed and updated nor any other thing I can remember.
There dedication is of a different kind than Geophil and Transdem and many fine route and object builders serving the community. thank you guys you make my day and yes I see no one as competition rather as fellow creators having a great time once in a while

So to those out there spending time on creating the terrain by hand is save the time buy Phil's program and do more useful things(texturing/scenery objects) other than creating terrain and still not nice at the end.
Myself I use F1 for local glitches, corrections more than enough works flawless.
hmm was this again all off topic OMG sorry not meant bad.................:hehe:

have a great Sunday.

Auran has always out sourced it's content to third parties. The first releases gave a user enough to work with, but since then the shop made items have been few and far between. I think they count on their "partners" to fill in the gaps. There's no reason to believe that terrain generating would be handled any differently.

But any chance that N3V and Geophil could pool their efforts and integrate TransDEM into a future version of Trainz?

Just dreaming! :o
