Installing gone wrong help!!!

Yah I see... I swear though it's built in DVD-ROM also. Is there any software that installs the DVD-ROM or something? Apparently I threw the box out and I don't know if there was any disks in there.

All we have to work with are the numbers you gave us, we can't see the box, or look into your PC. PC's list DVD/CD ROMs as a category of devices. You may have thought you bought a DVD Drive, or it may have been mis-labeled, or the wrong part was in the wrong box, but from where I can see you will not be installing that software with that drive. Sorry.

If you need to get a new DVD drive, you can get a decent RW drive for about $59 in the store or $49.99 plus shipping.

I've got two of these in my computer, I guarantee they work!

EDIT: If your computer's beige instead of black, here's an 18x Asus:

If you don't feel confident fitting a DVD drive inside the computer, you might want to investigate buying an external drive with a USB interface instead, that you simply plug in. Just an idea.

Also consider whether you want the drive to be able to write to DVD's as well as read them.
