Instal HELP!!

I just purchased TS12 and I downloaded all 6 files. I changed the setup file to include the .exe at the end. When I try to install I'm getting the "Please insert disc 1" error. Afterwards another box appears telling me 'setup-1a.bin' could not be located. What can I do to resolve this issue?

Hi Jay,

You need to make sure all the download files are in the same folder before installing.

There should be at least 4 of them on the download page.

OK - next question is what operating system are you using?

There is also the possiblilty of Windows blocking the files - this can be checked by right-clicking the files (one at a time), then clicking Properties. If there is an Unblock button, click it.

Windows 7 and there is no unlock button.

The next question therefore is can you post the names of the files you have in your download folder? I may be able to work out what's going on by the filenames.

OK. Seems normal enough to me. Can I check if that file called setup is the .exe (executable/runnable file)? If it is, there is a chance that the file(s) did not download properly.

It did not have the .exe attached when I first downloaded the file. I changed the file type to a .exe so my computer would recognize it.

That sounds about normal. Meanwhile, could you post the file sizes of the downloaded files so they can be checked?

The file types and sizes all match the screen shot on the simulator central website. Total file size is about 6gig

OK - in that case something very strange has happened. Just out of interest, was there any extra characters like [1] in the filenames?

Nope. File names are exactly like I typed them above :-/ Guess I'll just wait to hear back from the help desk. My head hurts and I'm headed to bed. Thanks for your help in trying to solve this matter. I appreciate it.

Can you please try deleting the 'setup.exe' file, and then downloading this again to the same folder.

In case you haven't tried this, please also try placing the files into a new folder, so as to ensure there are no conflicts with any other installers.

Hey Zec, I originally donwloaded the files on a portable memory stick, than transfered them onto my computer in a new folder. I deleted the 'setup.exe' file and re-downloaded it again. Still having the same problem.

My guess is it is something to do with the memory stick, as most of us download directly to a hard drive when installing.

I transferred the files directly onto my hard drive and I'm still having the problem.
