Robogo, did you buy direct from Auran, and do you reside anywhere within Australia?

No, what Auran is doing is refusing a service which they promised in kind, refusing Content which was build for these very titles, unless of corse you pay for it. I hope that in the final moments they will come to their senses and make a plan to keep this Content available, for free, for future generations of Trainz People.
Microsoft provided no support to MSTS other than one patch. Additional content is all third party and the cost of provision has been entirely left to the MSTS community.amigacooke - exactly.
This brings us back to the beginning and my initial question. If selling content, like Microsoft and Railsimulator.com is the norm, then why is Auran selling bandwidth.
Guys, stop, maybe he doesn't want an FCT
Jamie
Please see the big picture, Trainz CAN BE a really BIG title with millions of users.
Not really sure if that many people would. If it was full price, I highly likely would have not got TS2010.pommie - Vodaphone, or in my case Vodacom is in the business of selling bandwidth, Auran is in the business of selling games.
alanti - it is not a question of affordabillity but rather concept.
Red_Rattler - I bought my version of Trainz from a local Gaming Shop, called BT Games in South Africa. (the version of Trainz that I bought is also the only version of Trainz I ever saw on a shop shelf in SA)(you can be assured if Trainz 2010 is locally available that many thousands of copies will be sold).
And also when I brought both UTC & TRS2004 (#), the game stated unlimited free downloads included. Wether people like it or not, paying for downloads of 100MB or more is NOT getting unlimited downloads. See below:like I initially said, this is not about stopping support, but withdrawing a service that was promised in kind (it clearly states on the back cover of the Trainz cd case that I will have free access to tens of thousands of downloadable items).
Wether people like or not, paying for amounts for 100MB or more is NOT getting downloads included at no extra cost.“The team at Auran wish to thank you for purchasing this evolutionary product and we trust you will not only enjoy what's in the box, but that you will also join the rapidly growing online Trainz community [by that they mean the Auran Trainz forums at their site] to expand and enhance your experience. Here you are able to download new content for free, share your creations and ideas
I got in contact with Auran directly & they basically said “We are a business & can't afford to have anyone critisizing our products.” Sounds like they are only in it for the money.
pfx - NO, NO, please do not believe that, this is not rocket science, Trainz have the potential to be so much more than just a game about trains.
The biggest thing it have going, and perhaps the major drawcard that convince new players to buy it, is Surveyor. This is a very potent tool with the abillity to create amazement. With proper development it can turn Trainz in to just about any kind of game whe can think of.
Let us take animals for example, every body and their dog just love animals (Zoo Tycoon). Animals with even just basic animation will give so much more life to the world of Trainz. They can be put on invicible rails or made to roam inside invicible cages.
People is another examble (Sims), somehow whe humans are just fascinated by people, can you imagine Trainz where the driver wakes up in the morning, turns on the irrigation, get in his car, stop for fuel, goes to the yard, meet up with all his friends, gets his orders for the day and set of for the drive. All this while his children goes to school, the wife rushing to catch another train and the dog playing with a ball. And all across your layout, everybody participating in a living world.
IF (note if) people are able to upload TRS2004/TS2006 to the download station, can I ask that you throughly TEST IT FIRST (since Auran refuses to keep their side of the customer's contract) as much as possible, and try to see if it is error free.
And yes if it is not error free, it can (& DOES) affect later versions.
pommie -
Lou_T - like I initially said, this is not about stopping support, but withdrawing a service that was promised in kind (it clearly states on the back cover of the Trainz cd case that I will have free access to tens of thousands of downloadable items).
I'm can't understand how somebody who can't afford $20 a year for a FCT can afford to buy a computer to run the game on.![]()
