Illinois Railroad Museum W.I.P Thread

Nah. I quit the project but am still making 1630.

At least that'll give us something to screw around with until K&L can get their Russian Dec released.

If you don't mind my asking, Why is it that you hate the IRM? I'm not trying to start anything, i'm just wanting to know why.

I can't speak for trainman; but personally my dislike for IRM stems from the fact that it seems to attract more than it's fair share of crazy foamers that to my more mature self finds annoying to deal with or be around.

peter

Very well said Peter. The problem with a lot of those railroad related museums all over the world it seems...cant stand those people

Its like peter and flusi said. I hate foamers and cant stand em. The only things from the IRM i remotely like are the C&O Kanawha, ATSF Northern and the CB&Q Hudson. Not a big fan of 1630 tbh.

Fair enough.

With that being said, I take it you don't like railroad museums in general due the overwhelming sea of foam they draw in?

I mean, it depends on what ones. I enjoy the B&O railway Museum, and the Altoona Railroaders Museum. Havent been to the Hagerstown Roundhouse but ya it just really depends. I dont go to places much anyway. Just no interest in general

This is why I love visiting small lesser known museums. You don't get the jerk know-it-alls and foamers who come and ruin your visit with their obsessent chatter about train this and train that. You can take your time to enjoy the experience and not have to be constantly told "your ruining the shot", or "your footsteps are too loud, your ruining my developing attachment with the engine". (I'm serious one guy actually yelled at me for that) It's even worse when the museum has a rare piece of equipment or even worse, has an operating steam locomotive. The Lake Superior Rail Museum is nearly done restoring D&NE 28, and I can only image how packed the museum will be at the end of June when the inaugural run takes place. I usually visit the museum at the end of June, but I feel like I'll have to postpone my trip to a later date this year due to all the crazy foamers and railfans that go absolutely bananas over the sight of a steam engine.
