Basically this is the beginning of my brand new route that I'm working on that's set during the 1950s. Hope you all like the progress, all of which I did today. These 22 shots consist of the yard, terminus, coal and water tower, as well as what you can expect for what downtown should look like.

I doubt most of those buildings would be around in the '50's,

Instead of one texture, we get two buildings :hehe:

Well I'm resurrecting this project from the dead. Should've been damn well near done but better late than never and Aaliyah said if at first you don't succeed, then you can dust yourself off and try again.

Why are those tracks still so far apart? You do not need them that far apart, it makes no sense, nor does the approach to the large station. You could've built an entire coach yard as well as the tracks to get into the station

I bet this wouldn't be as long as your approach, yet I have more platforms, a carriage yard, and another heap of sidings near the bottom of the screenshot

I like my stuff spread so I and the A.I. don't get confused. I've had it jam tight and it caused a lot of problems. I want the passenger sidings and freight yard apart.

So I take it you ditched the 1950s setting? And how do AI get confused if the tracks are too close?

It's the Post World War II era with cars from the 1930s-1950s. The confusing part is I want passenger trains on the outside tracks and freight trains on the inside tracks. Priority 1 is for passenger, priority 2 is for mainline freights, priority 3 is local/branch-line freight trains. The issue is I want those effects to take place after they cross the junctions. While back towards the train station I want those tracks to be used for all three priorities.

If your keeping with the 30s-50s era then you need to replace the signals. Dont use modern signals, creating era routes can be difficult to keep it in the era you want. You have to be extra diligent in finding content.

Searchlight signals have been around since 1920 if I'm not mistaken and used widespread throughout the USA in the 1940s during and after the war. Searchlight Signals are still used today although they're not as common as they once were though.

What I've found is that if you treat the AI like a bunch of 4 year olds, they will behave like drivers, i.e. placing trackmarks in key locations and telling a train to navigate via that trackmark. This is an excellent way of keeping everything on the right track (pun intended :hehe:)

Also, I'd change the approach to that station if I were you. You can only have 4 movements at a time with it, whereas if you doubled each track up and then slowly merged them down to 4 tracks, you'd be able to have up to 8 trains arriving/departing at a time.

And, is this supposed to be a city? I'd get rid of all that green ;)

Yes it's a city. And most of the other textures aren't great in quality so that's why using grass ones. The built-in ones areas are awful unless I get some city ones.
