If I use Trainz Plus for a few months, will the DLCs remain on my Steam Trainz2022 ?

I hope that question makes sense, it's a tricky thing to put into words....:)

I've been using Trainz for a few years via Steam, and I currently use TRS2022.

I'm thinking of getting a Trainz Plus subscription as well, to partly gain access to usable download speeds for third party addons.

Is it best to subscribe via N3V direct, or via Steam ?
I believe I'm right in saying that DLC bought via NV3 can be used on their platform, and also via Steam, but DLC bought via Steam can only be used on Steam and not via NV3's direct Trainz.

Also, what happens to any premium DLC that I buy whilst subscribing to Trainz Plus, if I then cancel the subscription. Do I lose it, or is still available to me via my Steam TRS2022 ?

It depends on the DLC item. Some are only available to gold members while they have gold membership. Others can be bought and used in TRS22. If you can't buy it in TRS22 content store then assume if it is bought in Plus content store it will be disabled until a new subscription is purchased or N3V decides to release it to the general TRS22. DLC with a Plus subscription allows you to use all DLC content on loan. All bought assets, that also show, in TRS22 can be used in both versions.

Thanks for the reply.
I was thinking only of the standard Plus version, not the gold.
My TRS2022 is the Steam version, so if I 'rented' the NV3 Plus version, any DLC that I bought via them would presumably be the Plus version DLC, so maybe it wouldn't work on my Steam TRS2022 if I stopped subscribing ?
Sorry to sound so slow witted ( :) ), but the Trainz marketing method seems so overly-complex to me, with the ability to buy or hire direct or via Steam, multiplying the complexity of what will work with what and for how long.
I much prefer the 'owned' method, so it seems as though the only attraction of the plus subs for me is the faster download speeds of third party (non premium) content.

For faster download speed you can buy an FCT without subscribing to Silver or Gold membership. Note that it concerns DLS only, not third-party content.

Go to this web page for Trainz first class tickets.

They changed the way that DLC works through Steam. Now when you buy it is downloadable through the Content Store of TRS19 and up. It doesn't automatically download from Steam's servers. Memberships work like this: Any DLC you buy you keep, any DLC that is available through the membership stops working when you stop the membership. In the case of Trainz Plus Standard, no routes other than an updated version of KSC 2 comes with the basic install but any DLC routes you have in TRS22 will be available for download in to Trainz Plus from the Content Store. But of course, Trainz Plus stops working when you end the membership.

Just to double check, I purchased the ATSF GP38-2 2 pack through Steam. My Steam Version of TRS19 sees it on the Content Store and installed it fine from N3Vs servers. However, my version of TRS19 Platinum purchased directly from N3V does not see it as purchased. So that part of the situation has not changed. DLC purchased through Steam only works in Steam versions of Trainz. So it is better to buy DLC from the Trainz Store as it can be used in both versions.

Thanks for the replies.
Since my previous reply on here I took a chance and purchased a 90 day 'first class ticket' om N3V as the cheapest way to get faster downloads.
....and now I have a new problem !
I can't seem to download anything, even though my ticket is now activated.
The Download Station on this website states -

Trainz Helper (The "Download with Content Manager" button) is not supported in Trainz A New Era and TRS19. You can click Manage Content on your game launcher to search and download from the Download Station.

So as I'm using my Steam TRS2022, I click on 'Content Store' and it just shows premium content, and when I click on Manage Content' it just shows me a list of 702,500 items, with no way to browse the free downloads like the Downloads Station on this website shows ??

Use the Download Station filter to see all the free stuff on the DLS. You may have to scroll the filter list up to see the filter.

I've tried every which way to browse 'sets' of downloads in the 'content store' and 'manage downloads' in the startup screen of TRS2022, but I jut get that list of almost a million individual items.
....but I may have just found a way to get round it.
I browse the DLS in the Download section of this website, and then I copy the 'KUID' reference(s), and then paste them into the search box in the Content Manager window of my Stream TRS2022. That then selects all of the items for that DLS 'set'.
I'll carry on experimenting with that and then report back on here the result.

Keep in mind that the DLS is a repository for all the freely available content you can download from N3V that's been placed there by users. This is in addition to third-party sites that have more content. On the other hand, the Content Store is for DLC that's either freely available, or available for purchase. There are also some packages that you need to download for your copy of TRS22. They are the additional built-in items that were put there to keep the installer smaller even though that's about 10 GB.

There are many other ways of sorting the content in Content Manager. I highly recommend setting up all the columns. Right-click on the column bar on one of the existing columns and click next to an unchecked column heading. Repeat this until they're all added.

After adding them all, you can arrange them and resize them to fit your screen by clicking on the column heading and dragging where you want to put it and by clicking on the small bars located between the columns and dragging them to suit.

You can also create filters such as by date, minimum build, type, etc. This goes well beyond, and quite difficult to explain. There's a nice Wiki How-to article on how to do this.

The Content Store, located on the Launcher, is still a WIP according to Tony Hilliam. This is nothing more than a list of DLC packages that are available and have been installed. Whenever I start up TRS22, I click on that and check for updated packages by clicking on the Purchased tab and updates tab. As a Gold-Plus holder, I have all the DLC installed and there are periodic updates to what's already installed in addition to new items to be tested and then made available.

Many thanks for all that John. I'll work my way through it slowly.
My method of copying the KUID ref from this websites graphical lists into the manage content window of TRS2022 seems to work ok as well. I've successfully downloaded a couple of routes and they installed ok and are usable.
