Perhaps you could add in any previous 'moderating' experience, that always helps. :)

Excellent! Thank you very much. That is the type of info I need to be able to, hopefully, successfully apply for the vacant position.

I do have my own forum with quite some activity on it and I am the sole administrator and moderator of it. That must count for something I bet.

Any other advice? I really want the job so please don't hesitate to give tips and hints.

Auran usually offers moderator positions to people they think "deserve" it; instead of having people volunteer for it. I know for a fact that they have already contacted 3 people as potential moderators if they need them. (not to burst your bubble or anything)

But then Volunteering can never hurt....

Good god in heaven newbie there are just so many ways for me to say this. Never, not in a million years, absolutely not, no way hosay, no chance lance, net, negatrory, naham, ahg ah, uh oh & now for my own personal favourite of all time. Man falling off a cliff, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Sweet Louise, please don't tell me you also believe that a join date here actually means something do you? I actually assumed you were quite a bit smarter then to just bleet with the other sheep here.

Mental note: LouiseT 50 infringement points for "disruptive" behaviour. I will spare Peter rock steady Crew for now because he is still under-age, but don't let me see anymore of that wise-butt talk here Peter or I will send you to stand in the corner of the forum for at least a day or two.

make sure to add this quote in your application.

Noted ... should I also mention that I know you, or will that utterly destroy my chances?

Very sad to see that members respond so negative to volunteers. I now understand why boco quits. Who of you have volunteered as well?

I can see a lot of "love" and "sweetness" dominating this thread...if it continues.

My crystal ball sees this thread doomed to a very short life. I hope not, but it is off to a rather shaky start.

I enjoy seeing the kinder, gentler side of Zwabberaar. Good luck in your pursuit of Moderator.

Have fun,

Hi Aardvark. I do hope you note that I started this topic with the simple message of being a volunteer. I didn't demand it to be accepted. It is rather unfortunate that a number of ( previously ) vocal members find it necessary to ridicule my offer which has been done with only good attentions.

I do have a "name" of being disruptive. I was severely punished for it as well. I did my time and have returned here with free content, advice, screenshots and kind words. Now I even volunteer to assist the MGMT keeping order on the forums. What better place for a former disruptive member?

So far I have some nice comments and advice here in this topic until a few people decided that they are the ones who will make decisions on these forums. I admit my responses are less then friendly but I don't feel I have overstepped the boundaries.

My offer is plain and simple and it is a "take it, or leave it" offer as well.

I will head off to the decency of the screenshot forums again as long as potential volunteers are shot down for offering help.

Firstly, I cannot fathom why anyone in their right mind would volunteer for such a job/role. Nothing against you personally, Zwab.......but my comment is a generalisation for all.

I've done some moderation work on another forum some moons ago. It is thankless and requires a great degree of your time.

Secondly, as someone has already posted, Auran has traditionally applied their own selection policy rather accepting people putting up their hands.

Just in my opinion in order for the Auran forums to work smoothly the moderators have to be tactful and not plunge in firing from the hip. The casualty rate amongst the content creators gets a bit high then.

Cheerio John

Under-age!? What does that mean? I am old enough to vote, sign Int'l legal documents, become a moderator, drive; come to think of it the only thing I can't do IN MY COUNTRY is drink (If I drove an hour i can)

Oh and the join date on the forums for people who were here after the "big crash" is correct (the crash was in November)

Zwabberaar, if I am really honest, the responses here all indicate that we all don't think you are suitable moderation material given to Auran. Mods have to be level headed and able to cope with all ranges of situations. Some of us have to accept that we won't be.

No I don't think that at all I know what makes a good moderator as i own/co-own 7 yahoo groups and mod on 1 other, from the little I have seen on this forum you are not moderator material.

Disruptive behaviour? You have seen nothing to what I can be like but I have grown up since 2006.

Your forum title is spot-on.

And what is this private message meant to denote?

Auran never appoints a moderator who volunteered; never have and never will. They ask someone they feel comfortable with.

You mean as long as I keep asking awkward questions and prodding gently to get things sorted out I stand a chance of avoiding being asked.

Thinks must raise the topic of the hardware requirements of TRS2009, wonder what else I can stir up to avoid the draft.

You've cheered me up enormously.

Thanks John
