I had a dream about Trainz...

I had a dream that, when applying a great traction effort, the sound of my electric locomotive gears were different when I were applying a light traction effort, different when I were applying no traction effort at all, different when I were making a little braking effort, different when I were making a great braking effort, like in BVE .
I had a dream that the panto of my electric locomotive could bounce on the catenary and follow it when the catenary was lower in tunnels and higher on level crossings .
I had a dream that, when entering in tunnels, day lighting on my train could be turned off, so I could really feel in the dark of a humid and black tunnel .
I had a dream that TrainZ could give me as much excitements as I felt when I discover the annoucements in 2000-2001 !

Cheers,

Philippe

My dream is that one of NV3's talented creators or partners could make a Pullman Car Bedroom with berths, WC, and blue nightlights with a Diner Wagon just behind with linen table cloths and flowers on the table with a good menu. Just dreaming here.

Hi Tony,

Please don't use my second interview from today, (Saturday, from down at the Workshops) where you asked me about my Trainz dream, in any video. I kinda screwed it up; I misheard the question. Plus the little kid was screaming the whole time.

Feel free to use the first short interview though.

Thanks.
Kieran.

I have a dream, where I get a amazing sim.

That I will use this sim, which is simple to get into, but hard to master. Like a good game.

That looked wonderful, and ran great. And had amazing physics. The cab controls felt like good'ole MSTS.

And I could turn down the lights, and be sent into a pitch black work only illuminated by the headlights, and the glare of signals and buildings at trackside.

This sim could be as simple or as advanced as you want it to be.

It would immerse you into the world of railroading.

Everything you just stated (especially the traction motor sounds) I second.

I think I had a dream just like that.

ALSO, one thing many people are stressing and I can too is train operating in the NIGHT. :mop:

I had a dream that when I applied the breaks on a train it had realistic break air pressure sounds and so instead of just the foreign trains having break air pressure sounds now all trains had that effect and also that there was more realistic break squeal on curves and when running over frogs

All very great suggestions from everybody! We can actually get somewhere with this thread instead of the entire suggestion subforum. xD

I have a dream that N3V develope a cross platform set of tools so that all versions can be delivered roughly at the same time (like Unity).

I had a dream that I load a route with six AI driven trains and all train drive at constant speed.

A loco passes sign with speed limit 60 mph and it drives at constant speed, be it exactly 60, 59 or I don't mind if little slower, as long as it is constant. When I wake up and my dream is over I see AI trains running +10 mph, -10 mph of the maximum speed, up and down, up and down, so I get dizzy. The line is flat, no junctions, signal spaced at around 3/5 mile, all green, but AI driver speeds up and down, up and down, like an hyperactive kid

I had a dream where my wife found my throwaway Visa, saw how much I spent on Trainz, and sold my computer on ebay while I was asleep.

No more sausage and onion pizza before bed.

I had a dream that there was a ctc dispatching board for all the mainline routes like run 8. so we can run ai trains on autopliot and not have a mexican standoff.

I had a dream...

I had a dream that a train simulator had a rule which made all diesel locos consume diesel and electric locos relied on supply of electricity. I had to shunt a loco to refuel station as it run out of fuel. Also I had to keep coal supply up for a power station to keep passenger line active and powered. Only that way I could complete and win a session. The rule could be set to a slow or fast diesel consumption rate. Electric locos would not operate when on tracks without a 3rd rail or overhead lines, but they could be shunted when necessary. Without this rule you can drive forever - no diesel and no electricity consumption modeled. Locos could have their engine started and stopped. Locos with pantograph would not run unless pantos were up. Diesel and electric locos would get the same privilege and be modeled just like steam locos are modeled in Trainz.

I had a dream that a train simulator had a rule which made locomotives less efficient as they accumulated kilometers covered. The rule could be set to a slow or fast degradation of performance all the way to a non functional loco. The rule would have a feature of enabling a random breakdown of loco / locos. These would have to be either shunted to repair workshops or have a repair crew traveled to them in their cool looking yellow maintenance machine. Animated repair crew would fix the loco. Repair time would be adjustable via rule setup. Without this rule drive forever - no loco will ever degrade with use or will it ever break down.

I had a dream that there was a rule which could randomly or in predetermined places and times affect rail tracks - e.g. by a mud slide. This could trigger an in game message about a rail track problem. A team of rail repair men on their yellow fixing rail machines would be dispatched and animated rail repair crew would repair affected rail. Only then a train could continue it's journey and a session could be won. Without this rule drive forever - no rail track will ever go bad. In an event of minor derailment, a crew with an animated rail crane would be dispatched to place loco and rolling stock back on track to complete the journey. "Erase derailed trains" would not be the only option of how to deal with those pesky derailments!

I had a dream that a "SetBrokenThrottle()" method was actually implemented and caused the train to have a broken throttle functionality when called.

I had a dream that ships, rail ferries, cars, trucks and planes had native support in Trainz simulator. Fishing ships would sail to catch fish, then return to a port where they would off load their catch. Processing plant would snap freeze the fish, which would be loaded onto animated cooling rolling stock for transport to factories for processing. From these factories final products would be train transported to cities to warehouses, shops etc. Rail ferries would transport trains across rivers, lakes and seas making alternate routes from one place to another faster and fun. Special cargo boats would take ore, sand and other materials delivered by trains to remote destination for processing. Passengers would change for ferries, then hop back onto a train to complete their journey. Postal trains were offloaded at airports and post parcels were loaded onto cargo planes for further transport. Murchison was an integral part of Trainz, not an add-on.

I had a dream that Trainz was "out of box" rich in complete animated industry chains e.g. agriculture - transport of stock, orchards, veg production, petroleum industry - oil rigs, transport of crude oil by tankers, ships, trains, processing and petrol delivery, mining, forestry, etc.

I had a dream that Trainz was "out of box" rich in layouts and sessions, similar to Murchison.

I had a dream where at night I actually needed to flick the lights on as a train driver to see where I was heading when not in villages and towns. The light gray nights where everything is visible turned pitch black when overcast, no moon and no artificial light sources were present. Also my lights were implemented as per pixel, not per polygon lights, so they moved smooth and realistically as I traveled at night, not jumping forward 20 meters at a time.

I had a dream that I was able to "walk" in a first / third person perspective. I was able to inspect trains by walking around them, I was able to "board" a passenger train, I was able to hop into passenger cars, I was able to switch junctions, I was able to get out of one locomotive and walk to another to board it to continue my shift as a driver.

I had a dream that as a yardmaster I could earn "in game" money for my rail empire, buy new locos and rolling stock and complete and win sessions in many different ways using different strategies.

I had a dream that I had endless and challenging fun playing sessions with these rules and Trainz features, which transformed my Trainz yardmaster experience into immersive, "real time strategy" game-play, and my Trainz driver experience into a fun, immersive, and realistic game-play.

Further to all of the above, I had a dream that when I die.. I will exist forever after, in my World of Trainz.. again.., forever.

You will exist in Trainz until @ 2037 (as that is when about the end lifetime of Trainz, and a lifetime FCT will expire, thereabouts).

I dream in Trainz everynight, and that is what keeps me alive.

I'm sure that some one will dig up a disc of Trainz in the year 2075, and find someones DVD disc of saved 3rd party CDP's, and will be running Trainz (or TRS2006) in the next millennium.

My Trainz dreams are in 3D widescreen Panavision, have Dolby surround sound, and have scrolling end credits, and aren't over until the Eastman Kodak symbol scrolls up !
