I Give Up ! What is MM3I ( map-making )???

Still Learning
I have seen two references to MM3I, but I am unclear as to just what it is. The best I can figure out is that it has something to do with map-making. Can someone provide a down to earth, simple explanation as to what it is or does? Nothing elaborate, unless of course it sounds very interesting and desirable.

Never heard of MM3I. I do know of MMMG (I think it was). In TRS2004 you hold down the 'ALT' key and type in MMMG. This doesn't work in TRS2006. Not sure about TC.

Hey I am just as Confused as Manjoe Someone Explain

I am confused as to what MM3I and MMMG are. Are they commands? What do they do?

Help:confused:

I am still waiting for feedback on MM3I, and I have NO IDEA of what it is. I saw it somewhere, made a note of it, and forgot to check it out. There is a current post ( MM3I AND SURVEYOR QUESTIONS ) where it is casually mentioned, but it is dropped like a hot potato. Anyway, I did try the MMMG command (TRS2004). If you hold down the ALT KEY and type in MMMG, hills and trees are automatically formed for you. Interesting. While searching the forum, I found other ALT commands. If I get a list, I will post them all, at least those for TRS2004, since I cannot test TRS2006 which I dont have.:'(

Yes that is the most recent one. I managed to get this as well:

NEW in version 3i.02:
- corrected some bugs
- new version of GEO_to_UTM (refer to instructions!)
New in version 3i.03
- corrected some more bugs
- improved GEO_to_UTM
New in Version 3i.04
- guess what: corrected one bug.
instructions 3i.03 are still up to date.

files in the pack:
to be called by the user:
Betriebsanleitung 3i_0.doc Instructions (German)
Instructions 3i_0.doc Instructions
GEO_to_UTM.exe auxiliary program to evaluate UTM coordinates from longitude / latitude coordinates
Karte deutsch.cfg template for the configs of the clippings (German)
Karte englisch.cfg dito in English
Koordinaten.xls tool to compute coordinates of the corners of a clipping
readme.txt this file
Liesmich.txt same in German
MapMaker 3i.exe MapMaker - that's what it is all about
restore.exe tool to reposition the templates
lingo.txt languagefile German / English
opened by the programs only, do not open !!:
(the smallest change could result in that MapMaker would not be running any more!!)
config.txt config for the templates MapMaker generates
intro.bmp introimage for MapMaker
Kartenplane.im mesh for the templates MapMaker generates
salflib.dll library for window control
templt1.gnd template of part of the groundfile
templt2.gnd same

Just unpack all this stuff into one MapMaker-file in any directory where you want to have it.

Hi manjoe

I've never heard of MM3I. Do you have a thread here you can link to where it is discussed?

Cheers

pramsden:

The Alt commands apply to TRS2004.

Alt-FLY takes you up in the sky and you can steer yourself in any direction.

Alt-WALK puts you at ground level and lets you walk on the ground in any direction.

Alt-SMITE lets you click on an object and lightning strikes it and produces a hole in the ground to a thunderous crash out your speakers. Beware!. Be VERY CAREFUL using this.

Alt-MMMG (Make My Map George) makes you a new route on a new set of train boards, any size, but the effect diminishes with distance from where you start the command.

Alt-LUCYINTHESKYWITHDIAMONDS turns the sky into a kaleidoscope A-La The Beatles.

Did I miss any?

Bill

This is from a thread entitled "ALT+ COMMANDS", just in case MM3I is some sort of command.

Are you looking for something that lays the terrain down accurately for you of a specific area?

AJ

Not necessarily. I just stumbled upon the term MM3I for the second time, and decided to see what it is and if there was any value in it for me. If it is a command, I sure would like to know how to access it. I really have no idea of what it is except the mention of MAP***. Maybe its' something like Google Earth. I really dont know.

Well, now I know it is "MAPMAKER 3I". Most hits are not in English, so I am translating. Will update when and if I get any information.:o

I think this explains it:

There is also "Mapmaker", freeware DEM processor available from trainzluvr site. Its german, but has full English instructions. Its freeware, and needs careful pre-processing, so TranzDEM may be easier to use, but then thats Payware... I've used Mapmaker quite sucesfully to generate realworld terrain, together with basemaps to trace over railway lines, roads, buildings etc...
