Hudson River Route (Warning Large Images)

I don't really know this area that well, but I am now fairly familiar with GCT - Bronxville to Patterson, where is your layout in relation to that, may I ask?

I'm modelling the Hudson Line which is north and west of the Harlem Line you mentioned. It winds along the river through the Hudson Highlands from Peekskill to Beacon. That's only about 20 miles, but I'm modelling both sides of the river and, of course, the river as well. Metro North's Hudson Line (formerly owned by NYC and then Conrail) runs along the east shore and CSX River Line (also formerly NYC and Conrail) runs along the west shore. I know it is a rather grandiose project but...hey...sometimes you just have to say..."I can eat fifty eggs!" :D

Cheers,

:D Thanks Magicland!

After reading my previous post, I think I should make a clarification. I'm not modelling the entire Metro North Hudson Line, only the section from Peekskill to Beacon.

Wow...wow...wow...wow...

I could keep going on but yeah, you get the drift. :)

Keep up the great work!

Thanks everyone!

And thanks to gfisher for these cool Metro North mile markers...and the NYC mileposts (which I've altered a little). Its not unusual to see them side by side. This CSX mixed freight is 44 miles from GCT...

not to steal the thread, zorronov

I have a Track map of the entire Tri-state area with every railroad track thats in use (or abandoned but still standing) to this day,

I will be modeling penn station up the empire builder connection ( the old manhattan railroad line) all the way up to the beginning of the csx hudson sub devision, and then the hudson line back to Grand central station (both levels) later on.

also lance if you would like to familurize email me and I will send you the track map.:)

great job Zorronov im looking foward to running the ol' nyc river line

Sorry titaniclover, but this is modelled in TRS2006. I will continue to develop the route in 06 but when I get Trainz Classics I will import it into TC periodically as I go along. There are some new features and content in Trainz Classics that I think will benefit this route (Metro North...I really didn't plan it...but what the hey!) So I will probably release two versions...a 2006...and a Trainz Classics one for those people who have TC and the 2006 content. I'll step out on a limb here and say that I really don't understand why people are still hanging on to TRS2004. After all, this is the year 2007 and almost 2008. I think it is time to move on...

You definetly made some good points Zorronov and I can see the logic in why it would be wise to upgrade our version of trainz. :) However, there is of course, the other side of the argument which is:

1) From what I've seen, heard and read, trs2004 is in some ways, more stable, has better sound and a better download station system, although I could be wrong and there are some people who have upgraded and had nothing but sheer pleasure at the upgrade. :)
2) It's only mid 2007. ;) There are still many old games which people play consistantly that were made a long time ago (for example, Battlefield 1942, which still has about 1500 people who play at any given time [the last time I checked])
3) From what I've heard and read, there were only minor improvements to trs2006 (cost vs. value) and that some people went back to trs04 for a reason because they were upset at the problems in trs06 (see point #1)Vista vs. XP is a good example (even I'm using win2k haha!) and who's to say TC wont have problems when people finally start playing it.
4) I wont mention which sites, but quite a few people in the community are unimpressed as to the lack of support and service packs for 06 and as a result, have in a sense, boycotted making anything for '06 (which based on what I've read from the players and manufacturers pov seems fair).
5) Unfortunately, I think that perhaps the biggest problem is the cost. I'm sure TC is cheaper than 06, but to get TC or '06 running well and LOOKING good does require a good investment of hard earned dough. While I would be more than happy to drop 2k into getting a new computer  (I spent 500 last January getting a new motherboard and vid card even though my processor still blows @@ ) it's just a lot of money to drop to constantly upgrade, purchase new software, etc...so I would like to get the maximum value I can for a computer and the software of the time.

All this being said, I will probably purchase 06 and or TC sometime within the next 6 months =D as well as spending a good chunk of money upgrading my computer (which will hopefully last me a good 3 years while giving me some decent looks and solid performance and what not). :)

I DO look forward to running your route when you finish it someday (and when I get trs06/TC) hehe! :hehe:

Just my two cents for the day ;)

ahh, but i am smart and can make a SP1 route run in non-SP1 trainz
