HTF_SETH's Work

A new Railway company for the new part of the railway.
I call it Lake Side Lines, (Name might change later, depending on a few things.)
A railway for one of my other friends, This railway will only do fright for the small lake side towns, but can be seen in other places as well.
This railway unlike the EastBanks Railway and Coke .Inc will not have a steam program or restoration team.

Hey guys that read this trend,
I wasn't being very active in trainz lately XD
And school is almost about to start for me. So here you go :)
Just a simple pic I took, nothing much :)

I do not even know where you got these colors from  Overly satutated, iridescent, florescent ... IDK ... I thought the blinding HOG aqua was obtrusive

Well that steam engine up there, it used to be much darker color, once I compared it too the other my engines it doesn't fit the best of them. never liked overly dark colors, I like my trains to be colorful ^^
I'll prefer trains from the same railway company (even fictional ones) to have the same colors but it's not too bad compared the first time I tried to lighten this engine up, I think I know what overly saturated is, and I don't like the looks of that at all, after all I spent 4 hours trying to keep a good balance of colors ^^"

wow it's been a while ^^'
I stopped posting here lately because I lost all my work after forgetting to back up my content before I reset my computer. But I'm back, with a fresh start! ^^ I learned how to model basic buildings in Sketch up, for a first building it's not so bad.
So I'm just going to drop these pictures here, also there's one my newest repaints as well.

Some work over the last few days and whatnot. Mainly working on vegetation, grades, crossing more basic models and texturing the ground.

Oh yea, here's the a couch repaint I made a few days ago

Let me offer some friendly advice:

1. The colors you've used on your stock is, as Cascade said, overly saturated and bright. I suggest using some duller colors instead of neon pastel colors for a railway. Colors like that seems like a major turn-off for a railway of all things. You might also want to experiment with weathering, as stock with just one of two colors plastered onto it tends to look sub-par at best.

2. Sketchup really isn't the best option you have for modelling. It tends to create many more "polygons" than necessary, which doesn't sit well with some older PCs. You might want to try Blender or even GMax for modelling.

Overall though, i do like the look of that route ya got there. It's a start.

1. I thanks for the advice, I was about to spend the rest of the day going repainting, so I should be small improvements on the onther 2 repaints I made
2. My railway is a "personal test crash site" with lack of better words. While blender do seem complex... I never spent the time to learn how to use it so I'm really for blame there, I'll take more time into that ^^

Thanks for the advice, again! :D

Some pictures over the past few days.

As for now I stopped reskinning to put more time & efforts on my little railway. I'll use primarily BNSF and CSX locomotives, with an occasional steam loco here and there. :)

Reached a small personal milestone not too long ago, the mainline is around 10 miles long now.

This so far has been fun to do :) I learned a lot from trainz and planning to learn even more XD

enjoy :)

As rare as this happens, I have to agree with cascade on that point. *IF* prototype is what you're going for. If this is pure fiction, it doesn't really matter.

But yea, Prototype, particularly on certain class 1s, theres often to be heard the complaint that "I feel like I'd break my arm off if I stuck it out the Cab window" because the tracks are so close. In reality they do in fact generally have just enough room to perhaps stick their arm out, but generally not alot more then that. Certainly you shouldn't be able to drive a Car comfortably between 2 trains on most Railroad's Dual Mainlines. And where you could, you wouldn't want to because Ballast sucks to drive on unless you're in a big truck with big tires.

Thanks, both of you.
Any advice helps. ^^
The line is pure fiction (to be honest I'm just building 'on the fly' as I go on) but I'll still want it to look as prototypical has possible. I had already remeasured all my rails and used spline ballast for the mainlines which don't look too bad in my opinion.
Yard ballast is textured on like in the below picture

I personally think it came out pretty well, but there's always room for improvement given this is my 2nd route I ever done to this extent.
