HTF_SETH's Work

SIGNS!
I had reskin a sign off of Jointed Rail. It's for helping me know which town is where once I expand the railway more. After I get done with the town then I'll replace them if needed too ^^
(the logo of the sign should be a hint of what type of Industry the small towns will have.)

This here was from my first version of this railway. :3
This was my favorite engine to drive on it. I really didn't care if it was a switcher or not, that train still did it's job well (and can fit in some of of my smaller stations at the time) :P

I won't say I like the colors >.> lol.

But I like the quality and effort you seem to be putting into your Reskins. Keep up the good work. And if I could make a suggestion, try reskinning some buildings! XD

I understand the comment with the colors :p it is a weird color for trains, but I didn't want to use a normally used color. ^^

And thanks a lot!! I except nothing less out of me then the best I can do ^^
And yes I'll have to for the small towns :p mainly for varieties and to stay away from using real brands (like Wal-Mart for example) I still have to draw up a plan soon.

Well, A couple things I could suggest.

Don't worry so much about the Trademarked Logos and Brands. The work around to those is just do not ask for money when/if you distribute them, and wherever possible make a note on the asset that logos are copyrighted to their respective owners, and you should be fine.

The second thing is that, this game is just starting to approach "A fair amount" of small-townish assets, at least american. Enough we have variety anyway. What we're really missing is Mid Size town > Mid Size City assets. There are TONS of Wooden Buildings notably. 1-2 Story buildings in general. What we're missing are 2-5 Story Buildings and Warehouses of all descriptions, Modern and Dated. Brick and Mortar stuff, Aluminum/Concrete Prefab, Concrete Raised, Early 20th Century, mid 20th Century, Late 20th Century, we just do not have barely any...... We some, but not enough. So I'm always trying to encourage more buildings out of creators, lol. Even if you're reskinning Tume's or DMDrake's 2D series buildings, ya know? lol. Ideally it'd be nice to get more modern 3D + Decent Textures stuff, but I'll take whatever I can get as long as it looks decent.

One piece of advice though if you do start doing buildings. Pay VERY close attention to Scale. There are more horribly off buildings Scale wise then I care to think about much less mention. Once you think your done bring it into the game and drop a Neoklai person next to it, a YZ Truck, and a JR Diesel on Tracks to compare, this is litterally the same test I use since these are very common assets. If the person can't even reach the windows on the first floor and the Locomotive could easily squeeze through the front door, its too big. If the Person has to crouch to get through the front Door and you can see the roof of the Locomotive from the other side of the building (over the top), its too small...... We don't need perfection, you don't need to measure to millimeter. Just approximate is fine, but please, *approximate* it, lol.

ok thanks :P I always wondering about that ^^

lol I just got a of DMDrake's buildings ^^ most of them I'll be using for is the big cities near the end of the line. (once I get there I want to have at least 50-70 miles of main line track first. I only have 6 Miles) but I LOVE his smaller buildings they'll be perfect for the small city centers ^^ But yea I wish there was more 3D buildings... (I know how to make them but I have no ideal how to texture them for games, or how to add the effects like sun reflection and stuff ^^;; I use Sketch Up)

and that's why I'll be researching things like "how tall is a floor" or "how wide a single door is" when I start getting back into modeling I think if Sketch up's ruler is right. Then that won't be a issue when I start ^^

I agree, it's kinda hard to build a midwestern town of decent size when you just have huge buildings and little stores. Come to think of it these would be very useful for industrial areas.

I'm looking for more of a New England type town so I think I'll be all set to go ^^
I do agree that there is not a lot of Midwestern stuff.

What had I done today?

Well I had refined my latest reskin ^^
With smoke effects
am7Pahx.jpg

I spent little time doing this actually :P but I'm pound of the end result.

I had also reskinned most builder plates on these engines.
ClXNp5i.jpg

Small details matter. :3

Now for the Main thing (which I had to redo over and over due to my spelling errors, I often make spelling errors. Point them out to me if I do make them ^^')
Some Oil tanks for the oil town I'm planning on building soon ^^

These oil tankers have 1 inside joke for my friend to giggle at letter, all the writing on there is mainly for giggles and whatnot.

And that's what I done today as far was Trainz goes ^^
Have a good night!

Eh, if I could suggest leaving the builder's plates I would. Those weren't just random #s, nor were they assigned by the companies. Those are unique ID's registered to the Boiler and on file in Washington DC with the FRA. Its a big part of the locomotives Identity. Though if you wanted to give them something unique I'd understand.

After that, of the descriptions I gave for buildings, I meant in general. Not just Mid-west or Northeast. Im out in the PNW, so we got a big of everything. Anything you make, as long as its decent I can, and probably will, use it.

ohhhhhhhhh thanks for that information ^^; Well at least I got the fictional nation's flag slapped on one of them, I'll take into consideration when doing future repaints ^^

ah I gotcha ^^ I'll get more information on 3nd modelling and texturing for trainz then I try to make a few buildings ^^ (If I can still use Sketch Up)

Good job configuring the ATLS crossings (is that what the ones in the video are?). I finally got some to work today on a freelance Fayetteville, NC route, intended for running my new CSX SD70MAC from JR.

Yes those are ATLS crossing :)
I'm still working on them to get the bells running the whole time they are down, but I wanted to get the basics right :)

Oo nice :) JR trains are pretty good, I love the GS-4s they have. ^^
But they are such a pain to repaint lol.

You can tell them Tankers at least are JR Repaints. Not many rolling stock have Sound libraries wired to em XD.

One more suggestion, since you brought it up. At least for Items for Trainz, try to stay away from Sketchup where possible. It has a nasty habit of using exponentially too many polygons. It can be used mind, but do some research on these forums before you trying to make assets with it. There are some setting I think you can change that will cut down on it, though not solve it entirely.

well.... I can see if I can add the libraries to non JR cars (unlikely but it don't hurt to try :3) but I LOVE the sounds they make. XD
UPDATE: I added sounds to non-JR cars ^^ I'll post a video letter.

OH!^^;; well, I can always learn how to use blender then XD I have that too, sitting in my computer taking up space, it was too complicated for me, but that's no excuse ^^

Ignore what I said earlier it fixed it self. XD

2 2-10-2's driving though downtown BubbleVile ^^
(don't hate on the name of the town, I was empty minded ok? XD)

lol, interesting vid.

Only real thing I'd suggest as a route creator would be your road Splines. There are ways to join them together so end users can get functional Traffic, and still accomplish tight corners. Slightly more work, but less then going back through and editing them later.

After that I think you just exemplified what Trainz was designed to do originally, so well done.

oo, I think I'll in to that ^^ Thanks for letting me know, I thought it was impossible XD

I think Trainz is all about content making and sharing, the way the whole thing is set up makes it easy to do small changes to the trains that might need an upgrade. (like smoke effects (I'm very picky on that, after all that is the main issue of lag for me sometimes, after shadows) Rolling stock sounds, whistle/horn sounds, Engine sounds, and ever a whole paint job, small repairs and a lot more XD) The in-game route builder is easy to learn, yet powerful. I been playing trainz when 2006 came out as a gift.. I think I was only... 5-6? I dunno, I just knew I loved trains XD And I just picked it up again after Trainz: A new era came out, and fell in love with it again XD

I'll play with this game for years to come. :)
