"How to ... " videos

I have uploaded to youtube two additional "How to ... " videos. Both are best watched full screen and in HD.
_____

The first video shows how to re-configure freight cars in the Session Layer so that they will carry commodities that are not contained in the config.txt file of the freight car.

For the bulk load commodity to show correctly with re-configuration, the freight car must have been originally configured to include "texture replacement" in the config.txt file. Not all content creators use this, so with some hoppers although you may re-configure then to carry, for example, woodchips, coal will still show as the load.

The other issue is the total mass of the vehicle, which depends on the number of units of the commodity it has been originally configured to carry. If, for example, a coal car is re-configured in the Session Layer to carry iron ore, the resulting mass of the vehicle may be several hundred tonnes.

There are several hoppers on the DLS that are
a) Texture replacement.
b) Give some control over the number of units loaded, depending on commodity density.

Two that I can recommend are:
Hopper PON 2 Bay v2
Gondola Mill 52ft Railgon TS12

(CONTINUES - because I'm only allowed to embed one video per post)

(CONTINUED)

The second video shows how to configure the rule "Central Portal Control".

Central Portal Control allows all the portals on a route to be configured in one screen. It also has the advantage that it can be configured so that the first AI train is emitted immediately the session begins.

In the video I have also used InstantLoad_12. InstantLoad_12 can be downloaded from the DLS. The built-in InstantLoad will load only the first commodity in the config.txt of a freight car. InstantLoad_12 will select one at random from the list of commodities in the config.txt file. It thus provided a great variety of loads in freight cars that have been configured to carry many types of different commodities.

Most of the freight cars by davesnow fall into this category. Look, for example, for his gondolas and bulkheads.

There are several other videos that may be of interest (again, all best viewed full screen and in HD):

Restricting the commodity to be carried:

Thank you, Phil for your great work. These are very helpful for newcomers and Trainz veterans alike.
