HI there,

Auran has done a magnificant job at ALL their PC games and full kudo's to the Aussie company. Especially to the hundreds of dedicated gamers creating some brillianr content.

After updating my user profile, I wanted to do an online purchase, but had a slight problem. Then to the "helpdesk" on www.auran.com to contact Auran & contacts page.

Helpdesk works if you can log in. Then I tried to create a new log in and that failed because of duplicate email. Robot emalis were instructing me to login then emails are responded to, which is why I needed to speak or email someone in Auran to fix for me to make an online or over phone purchase ;-) Everytime I was trying to do something about contacting Auran, there was a hurdle, so my immediate thought was either they have shut down or sold to off shore owners. Mailing address was still Australian.

I haven't visited www.auran.com or forums for years and years now. Still great products and I am sure my kiddies (oh and maybe I too ) will enjoy our new TS2009 as they do Ultimate Trainz.

A number of days ago, I had requested that the 'current' email address be added to the 'home' page of the helpdesk, for those who are unable to access their accounts. Granted it's not big and bold, but we are working on some changes at the moment.

I had to try to call Auran because the marketing team would not email me back. I will give you a hint the email had northing to do with Trainz Magazine it was about......

On the page you purchased your digital download is a link that says "what is a digital download", it recommends that you use a download manager.

Large downloads will invariably fail if you use a browser, the one recommended is free download manager which is capable of resuming interrupted downloads and checks that it has the whole file.
You need to download all the files, I believe it's four of them.

Your internet connection, like everyone's can suffer from brief disconnects that you don't normally notice, however if downloading a large file it can result in part of it being missing, using a download manager avoids this problem, most will also download quicker as well.

Hi Jonathon,
Take the advise and get the download manager, then re-download and try again. If it still fails then start a post in the 2010 forum section.

As long as you get it from the official site? So the digital download from Amazon might be corrupted too then. That's pretty scary.

Wasting money isn't an option.

While no major open-source product itself has been produced and distributed with malware, AFAIK, any shady player can take a GPL or open-sourced product, package some malware and an installer with it, and pass it off as the same product. It seems that may have happened with some versions of FDM.

As for Amazon, that's a separate issue, but they're every bit as shady as any malware vendor. Ever wonder why they don't tell you ANYWHERE that you need AmazonGSdownloader to access digital downloads, nor what it does? I bought the Blue Comet on their, and got a refund when they refused to tell me what that utility does or even why I was required to install it when I wasn't told I needed to. Eventually bought it from Auran, and no malware.

Doesn't resume though if you loose the connection and failed when I downloaded 2009 with it resulting a file bytes short.

Better to use a proper download manager or an addon for FF that actually resumes.
