I have just bought a copy of trainz 2009 and noted the build is 38869. I have spent hours downloading service packs that are available to upgrade my copy! or so I thought!
They refuse to patch my version of TRS2009. Is it because I am a Roman Catholic, or more likely that I have bought a franchise version that is coded not to take any upgrades!

Any help would be appreciated, Thankyou

I don't see how being Roman Catholic would make them not want to upgrade your copy of TS2009. I am a Catholic to and I got TS12 upgraded with no problem. I see you didn't register the serial number for TS2009 with your account. Try doing that first and then get the update packs. I tried to upgrade TS12 before I registered the serial number and it wouldn't upgrade. After I registered it the software updated because it got a connection with my account.

It appears that your version is the Just Trains version of TS2009. Download the first service pack from their website here here; http://updates.justflight.info/jt/TR...2009Update.exe

Then apply this service pack; http://download.ts2009.com/Beta/40040_to_41844.exe

Then when you have applied that patch, apply this one to take you to the latest build: http://download.ts2009.com/patch/41844_to_44653.exe

Once you have done this you will be able to run the game without the disc in the drive

Many Thanx Andy

Dear Andy, Thankyou, for taking the time to respond, I am very grateful for your advice!

Hi Chris,

No problem at all. I started with the Just Trains version myself so had to go through the process that I have shown above. Something I forgot to mention though is that you need to be patient as some service packs take a really long time to install. They may appear to have stopped half way but dont be tempted to cancel them or do anything else with your computer otherwise you will damage your installation and have to delete everything and start again. When I updated my version of the game I set the service pack to install and sat reading a book while it ran.

Good luck ! Andy

Hi Andy, I'm all service packed up now to SP4 build 44653, thanks to you and your advice, thankyou! I hope you do not mind me asking further wisdom from you about the content manager. Every time I try to download a br class engine, I am told that the server is full and come back later! I can understand that this a hugely popular site, but without trying to be too sarchastic, how do you actually get stuff, that they promise!
Best Wishes Chris

Hi Chris, Glad you got the game service packs sorted without a problem. The DLS is another matter though but all is not lost. With your new game you may well have a free First Class Ticket for the download station which may give you 30 days access. To find out click on 'Profile' on the top of this page and then in the new window that opens click on 'Tickets' beneath 'Shop' on the left hand side of the page. If you have a freebie ticket it should show here and all you need to do is click on the activate now link. You may have to perform a quick 'trick' to get the FCT working though with your username and password. If you do have a free ticket and you click activate but still cant get access to the DLS after a day or so then e-mail me by left clicking on my username in this post and using the 'send e-mail' link.

If you dont have a free FCT and dont want to buy one then you need to be patient with the DLS as it is often full. (The is because there are lots of other users downloading world-wide) Open Content Manager and find what you want to download, click the 'Start' button which immediately changes to a 'Stop' button but if the server is full you will get the message on the bottom of the screen and the button will go back to 'Start' . Just click it again and if you get the same result click it again, and again, and again.....you get the idea. Eventually you may get lucky and a slot will open and you will be able to download. When I am without an FCT I find that I can download at around 11pm at night without having to wait too long.

If all this gets too much for you then the way to go is to buy an FCT :)

Let me know if you have any problems

Regards, Andy

Hi Andy

Thankyou once again mate, I am now slowly becoming ship-wise on Planet Auran. I have managed to download a shed full of content that I wanted, i.e BR stuff from the 60's, 70's. As a newbie to trainz in general, it's clear to me that what is needed is individual servers for your own country's stuff! Why would an Aussie or South African want to sift through dreary council houses from the UK? I would guess it's a money issue. Anyway I found routes in the UK by Driver_Col, just my cup of tea! Best Wishes, Chris
