no saving to external drive

Im a long time Trainz user just returning to the sim after a few years off. my last version was TANE. I recently bought TRS22 platinum. I play on a MacBook and it runs surprisingly well. I have an external SSD that I have a copy of the current program that works perfectly for running all the routes, etc. the problem is saving anything. I get a message that says it couldn't save and I need to check my storage space. The SSD has more than 1.5Tb available space. any help is greatly appreciated.

I do not know anything about MacBooks but what do you mean by "saving"?

Is it the normal ingame "Save" and "Save As" operations from Surveyor or Driver? Those saves are made to your User Data Folder wherever that is located. To check its location select Trainz Settings from the Launcher then select the Install tab. You can change this to any drive and/or folder. See the Trainz Wiki page at How_to_Move_Your_User_Data_Folder for the details.

Is it the "Export to CDP" operation from Content Manager? In my experience (and again, I do not know MacBooks) that will only be stopped if the destination drive is full or faulty.

I do the normal save and then go into my Content Manager, find what I just saved, and export it as a .cdp file to my external drive.

The program is on your SSD as you asked it. The data folder is on your internal OS drive by default. Look for the data folder in your MacBook open it and copy the build folder to your SSD. Open TRS22 launch screen and the install tab. Change the path to the newly placed build folder and do a DBR.

Your Database (DB) Fre are 2 Library folders so you need to follow the path above exactly. Once you get this DB folder, backup, then move it to your external device and change path on Trainz/Trainz Settings/Install/ and change Local Data install path to that the DB Folder you just moved. The Path on your exterDB Folder or Trainz/DB Folder to make things easier. If Trainz is open, Iestart to make sure Local Data path chant revert back to Trainz Default. Hope this helps

Thanks for all suggestions. I can save to an external but not an ssd for some reason. by saving, I mean when you exit a session, I get a message that there is not enough space. there is because the ssd is1.5Tb and there is plenty of space. it works fine on another external drive.

Could this be a permissions issue writing to the SSD? I've seen programs put up the incorrect error message.
