Help a newbie !!

an advantage to the forum no0one has mentioned is the fact that if the problem develops more, the person helping may not know what to do next. if it is posted on the forums, someone else can step in and take over; if not then there is allot of extra work before someone can take over. Another advantage is (and I've expireneced this) is sometimes the person needing help decides that you are they're personal tech support for every problem, and soon they are not using the forum and emailing you for every problem they have; whether you know the answer or not.

Like "I'm sorry I caused you to corrupt your installation and caused you to do a complete re-install", or something worse?
Most sane people know that you need a clean install first. Thats why you don't ask a newbie for help! As you can see, I'm not a noob here by far.

I was not referring to you in particular.
I know that....I was trying to make a point. That if a newbie has half a brain, ask someone who has made a big contribution to the community,or someone who has been here for a long time, don't ask a person who is also relatively new.

Its simple,If the person helping is not sure of the answer just say I'm Sorry I don't know.
That was my point....often you see posts that say just that....posts by those who mistakenly thought the question was "Does anyone here not know the answer?"....the person looking for the solution isn't interested in hearing from someone who doesn't know....:p

That thread bears no relevance to the subject unless the person that Emailed sent a file to the recipient, which, if true, is not advisable.
