Ok. I set up my account with said site. Now, if said site does what it says it does then this should solve not only this payware issue, but also many subsequent issues down the road correct?
Also...I want to know if it not only tells me what the missing dependency files are, but also brings up a link to immediately DL said dependencies?
Then, once the dependencies are DLd those items that needed them should be instantly repaired, no? If not, then what?
I'm not near my computer so I'm asking in advance so when I give this another go later, I'm prepared.
It does most of that except repair parts or download the assets.
What it does is:
1) Tells you if the asset exists anywhere.
2) Shows you places where it's available.
3) Gives you links directly to the asset, if available.
You will need to go to the site listed and download the asset.
You may or may not have to repair anything. This is usually the case with Jointed Rail stuff since their stuff has mostly, if it hasn't already, been updated to work with TS12 and up. Speaking of the Jointed Rail site... They have a section for dependencies for their locomotives. Pick the model you have and download the parts such as cabs, engine specs, and other bits and pieces. You'll find it's pretty simple once you get the parts in. Also... On their website link to the item you downloaded... They also at least I think they do or did supply a link to the dependencies for the assets or routes. Check your email to ensure you got everything. If you have any problems, post over in their forum located here under 3rd-party partners. Justin, Mike, or Alex will get back to you quickly on your problem. They're pretty active here and are good on their support.
Right now you'll find more missing dependences mostly because people either forgot to upload the stuff to the DLS, or didn't bother. This can become an issue with third-party websites especially if they go offline at some point. Someone such as Jointed Rail is less apt to do this, but it's something to keep in mind. As time goes on, you'll do less and less hunting around for assets because many, many engines and other items will rely on these same parts. I think someone else mentioned this above if I'm not mistaken. With my, gulp. 175,000 assets installed, I have no missing dependency on anything but one route, and the route is missing something that's only available for TS12 for now so I couldn't import it into T:ANE.
So all is not as bad as you feel right now. Remember it's a hobby and you've been going gangbusters at it for week. You may need to slow down a bit. Didn't I say that?
