Has anyone else noticed this?

Not sure why, but all of a sudden, when in surveyor, and trying to adjust the properties of rolling stock, I get this happening:

When you click on the properties of the traincar, and click on the "+" sign to add different commodities, instead of the commodity window coming up, I just get a small blue window that says "products" and has nothing else in it. It then proceeds to give a little red bug error. "Thread Exception:ER Exception, line 2268, file vehicle.gs"

Unless I'm going crazy, (which could be entirely possible) I know I've done this thousands of times before.

I've tried running the program as an administrator, but to no avail.

TS12 - build 49922, BTW.

Any suggestions?

Check for any faulty commodities in Content Manager.

This problem is usually caused by faulty commodities or ones with missing dependencies.

Shane

I appreciate your quick response! Thanks.

I don't think that is the problem though - this is happening with ALL cars, including ones that worked only a few days ago. It even happens on passenger cars, where the only commodity is passengers.

I checked and have no faulty commodities, and no commodities with missing dependencies.

This is a bit of a head scratcher! :confused:

The next stage is to open all non-builtin commodities for edit, then recommit them.

Shane

Shane,
Someone recently downloaded a route (I think ffestiniog or something like) which had a faulty asset which caused this problem. perhaps it's the same fault.

It could well be, but from experience, the error described by the OP is usually related to faulty commodities.

neilsmith749:

If there are still no faulty commodities, check for any faulty assets, as per fran1's suggestion.

Shane

Wasn't showing as a faulty product, however it was missing the product kuid from the kuid table in the config and was affecting all products for some unexplainable reason.

Need to check any recently added items that use products.

If you have downloaded the Festiniog Gravity slate wagons and the four passengers for the 'rider' wagon, you will need to do the following. It will solve your problem.

In each of the 4 passenger config files, add the line:

product-category <kuid:-3:10091>

and enter this kuid into the kuid table at the bottom.

Okay - that's great - I'll give it a try. Thank you so much!:wave:

It's amazing how one or two assets could cause so much havoc.

I'm having a very frustrating time right now - I can't get CM to do much of anything - it just keeps saying "applying filter" and then seemingly freezing up.

I'm trying another database repair - let's see what that does.

Finally - database repair seemed to get CM moving again. I just deleted the aforementioned assets, and things seem back to normal.

Thanks again to all for your suggestions and assistance.

-This happened to me too in trs2009 with my center beam, when I went back to test it. ...I'll just stick with ts12

-Joe

Hey Joe - just downloaded your latest gondolas and centerbeams. Fantastic looking.

Unfortunately, I can't really use the centerbeams as they don't fit in with the commodities I'm using. (the old ones take something like 72 units of a product)
Nonetheless - fantastic looking models!!!

I have a missing kuid from the gondolas, which is:

<kuid2:46162:60006:9>

Of the research I've done, it seems like it's some type of aluminium product, but I can't find where to find it - any ideas?

Once again, thanks for all your great work!!!

@neilsmith749...

Neil.. there are two ways to solve the missing <kuid2:46162:60006:9>
problem...

The long way is to delete the kuid from each of the config file.
This will take a bit of time but changing <kuid2:46162:60006:9>
to <kuid:46162:60006> will fix it. It is very likely you have
<kuid:46162:60006>

The other way is quicker. Open <kuid:46162:60006> for edit.
Copy the entire folder to a folder outside the Trainz enviroment.

Open the config file in the copied folder and change the kuid
to <kuid2:46162:60006:9. Go back to CMP and IMPORT the changed
asset. This will obsolete <kuid:46162:60006> and show the kuid as
<kuid2:46162:60006:9.

This will fix all the assets at one time.

-You can do this ^^^ or just completely remove it from the kuid table. The :9 at the end just means its been updated and has obsoleted the old one. Hope this helps!
