Hamburg V6E Tram Layout

Hi Mark,

great adaptions. I'm eager to test them. But I've a criticism on both. From my point of view (I was born in the former GDR) you should replace all the Trabi and Wartburg (GDR-made) Cars with western ones. For content www.trsbingen-nahverkehr.de is a good start. I know it seems to be a lot of work. But if not you're risking an anachronism whilest using Hamburg trams and for instance western german police cars (like can be seen on one of your screenies). And believe me here in Eastern Germany the Trabis are unique and very distinctive.

regards

Jean-Paul

You’re not alone in your criticism of my use of East German cars on a supposedly West German based layout; indeed people have commented on this in previous posts. The problem is the vast amount of cars on Spikerod’s East German (DDR) Frakenberg/Mittelstadt layouts that would need changing, and more importantly, which specific cars should I use?

You mention www.trsbingen-nahverkehr.de being a good site to find West German cars and indeed that is true, but I don’t want to use too much non-DLS content as it makes it hard for people to get all the required assets.

I think my best bet would be to use the excellent cars created by Ulf Freudenreich (MB230, L319, Escort, Kadett, Kaefer, BMW02 etc), which I believe were originally included as part of the German TRS2007. Can anybody confirm?

For anyone with TRS2004 or TRS2006, the cars are included as part of “GR_Content_korrigiert.cdp” which is included in Conny's Altstadlinie Tram Layout, which can be downloaded from here: http://www.v6e.de/Altstadtlinie.zip

Hallo,

as a German and studied historian I think it's good base. Conny's Altstadtlinie is reflecting exactly the epoch you're trying to emulate.

Jean-Paul

Everything about this layout looks incredible, are you planning on releasing your adaptation of Frakenberg?

Matt, thank you for your kind comments. Fingers crossed, Frankenberg V6E will be available on the DLS before the end of December.

Jean-Paul, thank you for your feedback.

I will replace the GDR cars on my Frankenberg and Mittelstadt layouts with the following West German cars by Ulf Freudenreich, plus one or two others from the DLS:

R60,<kuid2:95148:10202:1>
F45,<kuid2:95148:10211:1>
Escort,<kuid2:95148:10200:1>
F88,<kuid2:95148:10207:1>
BS16,<kuid2:95148:10208:1>
R16,<kuid2:95148:10206:1>
MD230,<kuid2:95148:10204:1>
MB230,<kuid2:95148:10199:1>
MAN750,<kuid2:95148:10209:1>
HS,<kuid2:95148:10210:1>
L319,<kuid2:95148:10201:1>
BMW02,<kuid2:95148:10205:1>
KadettB,<kuid2:95148:10198:1>
Kaefer,<kuid2:95148:10203:1>

Can somebody please confirm which versions of Trainz have the above Ulf Freudenreich content built-in?

Unfortunately, progress on Frankenberg V6E hasn't been as fast as I had expected. The release date for the route on the DLS now looks like it will be around mid-January 2010. :( Hopefully it should be worth the wait.

Here's a couple more screenshots of today's work:

Since my last post a few hours ago, I've finished re-working the city terminus on my Frankenberg V6E route:

V6E-Frankenberg-17.jpg

With the above work finished, the route is almost complete; All that remains to be completed now is the placing of all the V6E autopilot track elements, the replacing of the GDR cars and testing in driver.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year.

As you can see above, you'll be pleased to learn that I'm now just putting the finishing touches to my V6E Frankenberg layout and I will have it uploaded to the DLS later today.

Please note however, that due to the current backlog of content awaiting approval on the DLS dating from 16th December, it may take a while longer than usual for the route to appear.

The layout you mentioned above is the one that you have made a map of, as a .pdf ?

No, the PDF map mentioned above is for "V6E Middelstadt" which I'm expecting to release by the end of the month.

I haven't done a PDF map for "V6E Frankenberg"; mainly because it is a single tram route layout.

However, to give you an idea of the route, I have created the following simple map:

V6E-Frankenberg-Map.jpg

Anyone who has got Torsten's (Spikerod) original Frankenberg route will instantly be able to tell which parts of his fanatstic layout I have changed.

Hi Mark, can you disclose what that road is in your screens of the terminus (Volksparkstadion), I thought it was one of the FMA ones at first, alas; it isn't, and i couldn't find anything on TRSBingen or Trainzdepot.

As this thread is about my Hamburg V6E tram routes, I thought I would mention that I Just spotted this on Rolf Westphalen's website:

:udrool: :udrool: :mop: :mop: :mop:

The Hamburg V7E tramcars are on their way!

If these trams are anywhere near as good as the V6E's they will be fantastic!

Great work Rolf.

Check out http://www.v6e.de/html/aktuell.html for more information.

I can't wait to try them.

There is now a news article on Rolf Westphalen's V6E web site about my V6E routes: http://www.v6e.de/html/aktuell.html

Thansk Rolf!

Unfortunately, due to problems with the DLS, it looks like it will take a week or so before V6E Frankenberg, plus a handful of other required assets will be available. :(
