which one, the "I can't tell a GP-40 from an SD-40" thing or the "ALCo's are honorary steam engines" thing? 'cause if it's the ALCo thing, maybe i'm not that crazy after all:hehe: :o

It would be both. Alcos have always shown their steam heritage. Even into the modernday. If you watch the Dash 8s on the SL&RG, they arnt alco, but they shure to show they are decendants!:hehe:

All I can remember when I downloaded that thing was they said something like a "T Class Loco supposed to look like a GP15"? yes no?

cheers

Is than an MPI GP15?

Correct! Steveo, you now have 2 days to post a new locomotives. Enjoy your imaginary bagel.

Ah, sawyer, you wern't ignored. It wasn't the Green Goat or any other suggestions you added. Good guess though, that's usually the first impression upon seeing the locomotive.

Cheers,
Joshua

see, told you i couldn't tell diesles apart! :o Looks like a green goat or a GenSet...wait, they built that out of a GP-15?! interesting...

ya know what, now that i look at it, i see that low radiator grille and, yeah, GP-15 rebuild. Duy!

It's not the original GP15 out of 1975. MPI is another locomotive maker from Morrison Knudsen, and has been rebuilding and making locomotives for a long time. They made the MK5000Cs, and more recent MP36's use on Metra (Chicago RTA), Cal-Train, GO Transit, and a few other commuter services. The unit is very different from it's prototypical cousin, the MPI GP15:

It looks also like a MK(the old Morrison Knudsen) MK1200G:

The creator must have crossed the two. Either way, I was looking for MPI GP15 because it is it's true prototype. I do not know if it is a rebuild, but they do a LOT of rebuids and had. They rebuilt 133 SD40s and SD45s for the Southern Pacific to SD40-2M and SD40Ms. That being one of their biggest.

hmm, that MPI is an interesting engine. But what does amtrak use them for? I know there's not alot of station switching done anymore. Work trains on the Northeast Corridor, maybe? PS where did you get that...i'm no big fan of Amcrash (I think that says enough about it:hehe:) but i'm always on the lookout for their stuff so i can run modern stuff for my steam crews to sneer at...and/or haul to the next station when they fail on the road:hehe:  :o.
