guess the LOCO game...

San Luis Valley Southern (Southern San Luis Valley) D-500.
scratchbuilt diesel switcher.
International Harvester diesel engine.
Built in 1955.
Built on a steam tender frame.
original engine: D&RGW C-28 class--constructed in 1888.
My mind wants to say it was built on the old No. 103, nee D&RG 592/D&RGW 657--built 1890.
It still exists.
Don't know who owns it, but it's stored at Blanca, on home rails.

For the record, i had to comb through every Colorado Railroad/D&RGW book/website i have to figure that out:hehe:

So, without further ado...

(sorry for the huge pic...)

What engine is this?
What is her wheel arrangement?
Who owned her?
What is her class?
When was she scrapped? (:'()
and a bonus: Before what year was this taken?

D&RGW class L-105 #3708
4-6-6-4 'Challenger' wheel arrangement
Denver & Rio Grande Western was her owner
She was scrapped in February 1956
This was taken before the year 1942 because she has the sun burst pattern and not the stripes scheme she received. I guess World War 2 led to the scheme change.

What kind of switching locomotive is this?

I know this was a zinger, so I'll pass it off to the next poster. My research, what little is available, says this was made by PGW and was a 10 tonner apparently although it doesn't appear to weigh 10 tons. It was used to haul gypsum hoppers.

Cheers

AJ

You were right about the first part but the gauge is incorect also it is really not that hard to find out what it looked like wink wink, look at the tender
