Graphics problem with TS2009

Now look at that!

Hi guys

Now I'll eat humble pie - not for the first time ... I read the latest posts from elgato and ics and decided to have another thrash round the ring. Now I'm convinced I'd tried using Direct X before and it had made no difference. However, this time - well, bless me, even the old content is properly rendered and looking very pretty. . . I can think about running a few trains again! Just for the record my settings on TS2009 Build 40040 are Direct X, Anistropic 2, in compatibility mode. I'm just left wondering why the same ATI card runs OK with Open GL on TC3 ... but no, I'm not going there!

Cheers and thanks

X-Files

Yeah Beamplate .... your up and running as well :D

Mate this definatly one for the X-Files .... I'm thinking along the lines that it needed a reboot for the modes to work .... but not positive.....:)

If in doubt - read an old manual!

Hi

Just to draw a wobbly line under my contribution to this thread - last night I dug out the very comprehensive TRS2006 manual which installs with TS2009. There's a link to this PDF in the TS2009 manual for anyone who hasn't found it yet. Previously, I've always passed over the section on editing the Configuration File settings. My enthusiasm for damaging stuff by making ill-considered changes is possibly unmatched ... However, on page 23, under the heading 'render=renderdirectx' I read "This may improve performance or compatibility where the video card drivers do not correctly support OpenGL."

This doesn't translate as an option for TS2009, since the relevant script doesn't appear in the later version's trainzoptions file, but it's the confirmation of the reason why some (most? all? ATI?) graphics card users need to switch to DirectX which is interesting. I think Auran's literature might be a bit clearer about this, given that Open GL is the default setting. But I think you're right, ics, about the need to re-boot having done so - it's the only explanation for the sudden transformation we both saw.

Firstly, you should have created a new thread, not bumped an old one.

Secondly, you have not provided a lot of details.

What are your system specifications (hardware, operating system etc)?

If you are using Windows XP, it must be running Service Pack 3.

Windows XP SP3 is required to install TS2009 service packs.

Also, please register your copy of Trainz.

Looking at the memory side, that is not enough for Trainz to run properly - should be at least 2GB.
