Yes, the Mac pop-ups are somewhat distinctive (well, depending on which OS you are using.) The newer OS has a window that looks like it belongs on an iPad (ie; touch screen) - does that give you hint of where computers are going? Study your linked pic above again.
(You now have to "approve" any software update or install that is not coming from the Apple App store.)

Also, on the Mac installs that I have, the Trainz panels/popups need some work. When you do something like go thru the update process panels open behind other windows sometimes. Also, I'm in Dark Mode and the text in some windows is barely noticable. I've mentioned these Mac GUI issues more than once on Mac beta release threads but there has been no response by N3V.

Well, it seems I am not yet out of the wood. With the newer build installed, I managed to find my original beginnings of a route, but that quickly stalled. So I deleted it and began another, but I ran into the same problem - as soon as I tried to move from the landscape tool to the objects tool, the whole thing froze and I had to (with difficulty) force quit.

Firstly, congrats on solving your problem!
I use the PC version, and if I just force quit, I need to rebuild the database before the next use…
I’m speculating that the errors are linked to graphics and objects - try tuning all the graphics setting to minimum to see if it’s an interaction.

- Do you have problems when you look at assets in Content Manager (errors)
- Have you done a db rebuild as mentioned above.
- Does Driver work OK with no crashes? (Can you run Kickstarter Co sessions?)
- Have you tried different "steps" when "moving from landscape tool to objects tool"
- Does it crash every single time you do this?
- etc.

The more detailed and methodical you can be the better the chance to solve the problem.

First about my system:

I haven't looked at assets recently, but it was OK last time. I have done numerous database rebuilds.
I can't use Driver because now I can't even get as far as laying track. Before with the old build, 115635, I had track, stations and signals but couldn't get Driver to work at all. Now, with 115925, the whole game freezes as soon as I touch any other controls apart from landscaping, and yes it does crash every time. I have my setting on the second lowest setting, which seems a bit low considering my system, but I'm trying to give it every chance.

I think I have answered most of your questions, but I'm not sure what you mean by moving in steps.

I see the one thing I missed out, was Kickstarter. I hardly ever look at that because I don't like driving trains - too stressful! I know I'm going to miss a signal or something - anyway, I tried, foolishly picking Dundee-Kings Cross, which took over 3 hours to download.
Anyway, the minute I started, I got a little window telling me of half a dozen things that were missing. They weren't items with kuid numbers, so I didn't know what to do and chose ignore.
My train began OK, we left the station and crossed an enormous bridge - not the Forth Bridge as I was expecting, but pretty long, and then after about 10 minutes, we stopped - or rather my train kept on making train noises and showing 63 mph, but the picture stopped moving.

rhban - That 63mph crash 'speed trigger' indicates a known error/ conflict with your sound card drivers. Suggest update them on your PC/ Mac and then run an extended database repair of Trainz afterwards to resolve.
A (not very sensible) workaround is to set the volume level of trainz sounds to zero in (Main Menu) Trainz Settings, Sound Settings... so that you don't see a CTD or stall when your consist attains/ exceeds 63mph.

Aha! Before I got to do anything else, I was offered a new build: 115993. This time, without fiddling with the sound or anything, I managed to drive from Dundee to Leuchar without problems. One slight error on my part: I must have decoupled the train I wondered why my diesel was so responsive!l
Why is it so hard to find a way to start these scenarios? I managed in the end after clicking alll over, and I still can't remember how I finally got it going,

Excellent! Upgrading to the latest version usually fixes most things - as the patches are designed to address known bugs - and usually do. The Soundcard issue was fixed much earlier for PC Trainz users, even though the source of the issue was external to N3V's own code.

Well, that was fascinating. After each update, I rebuild there database, and this time I got a heap of updates on after another: 116302, 115434, 116493, 116931. That last one was 6.7 GB - enough to change the game completely, one might think. I am intrigued.

the Patch Installer wants a different password from any I know.

Hi, as a Mac user: the patch installer asks here for the password you use for access to your Mac. The patch installer needs your permission for making changes on your Mac. It is the password you use for logging in to your Mac after switching it on or a reboot. Hope this helps!
