Galloping Goose in TS2010

Hello, trackers.

I'm trying to implement a Galloping Goose on my layout, but part of it isn't loading correctly, and I'm at a loss as to why.

The Goose in question resembles the D&RGW "#5" Goose, and came in two parts. According to the download area, most goose components, including the one I'm trying are made by togog and whecsailor. They look great! However, the second part of the goose, the consist part, isn't coming across. I only get the front half of the goose! When I look at the content manager, it tells me that an asset is missing. But when I look for the asset, it never turns up.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm probably just forgetting something painfully simple.

Thanks in advance,

RJPugh

You may be on a wild goose chase...:hehe:

If the missing asset does not show up in content manager, it may not be available on the download station. Best bet is to google the kuid and download the asset from its native website, and then import it into the content manager.

It is most likely from an older version of TS and may not show in your version of CM. Try the DLC web page and see if you can get it but it may not work anyway in TS2010+ I can try them on my NG route but I do know that the pickup truck looking one has errors in TS12+. If memory servers me right it had problems in TS2010 also.

The glitch seems to be connected to kuid2_222925_2006_1.cdp, but I'm not 0 certain.

I downloaded the whole goose with no missing dependencies in CMP of TS12, and got proper rendering in TS12.

Your goose may not be fully cooking ;) (Sorry I can't resist this goose thing)

I've got the Goose working now. I overwrote some of my narrow gauge assets and after that it worked. None of my other NG equipment seems to have been effected. I've got Rio Grande #5 waddling along in all of it's goofy looking glory. I'll be re-coloring it some day, but not now. I've got bigger geese to cook.

What I want to do now is re-program it to handle commodities the way the prototype Goose did. The real Goose typically carried as many as 10 passengers, and roughly 6 tons of freight in the boxcar section. I understand that one of the geese had a coupler that allowed it to pull one (and only one) car, so long as the box was largely empty, but I'm not going to mess with that.

I would like to set the consist portion of the goose to handle up to 8 passengers, and, up to 6 tons of general goods. I figure that's "close enough," and it best suits the operation scenarios I have. In reality the passengers rode in the cab, which is the "locomotive" in TS2010, so passengers won't appear in the cab area. Oh well. Still, if the simulator moves the passengers in other respects, I'm cool with it.

How does one configure a car to handle cargo? At present, clicking on the "?" key for the car delivers no information: it can't load or unload anything. Is there an FAQ, tutorial or how-to describing how to do this?

This goose needs some stuffing. [What the heck, running gags are fun.]

You need to add a queue.

Your traincar is probably most similar to a boxcar. You could create attachment points in an attached mesh, if required. For instance, that's how you could show passengers in the cab.

Similar assets that already support products and passengers are a great source for examples.

Thanks! Wow, this is complicated... especially at this hour. I'll go over this in more detail when both lobes of my brain are functional.

But from a quick look, setting up the cargo portion should be easy: It's a standard 6-ton boxcar. Shouldn't be difficult. Passengers in the cab may be more difficult. I'll see how some of the trolly engines handle "passengers" in the locomotive; that may give me some ideas.

But again... when my brain is fully functional. It's 11:08 pm where I am.

Hi, I'm not sure where you are getting the 6 tons of freight number. The geese were used mostly for passengers and the mail. The mail contract required the mail be carried on a scheduled passenger train which the geese were designed to replace. The RGS had 4 percent grades in several locations and were known to overheat. A water tank was carried on the roof of the goose to refill the radiator. After 1946, number 5 was fitted with a school bus body and could carry 28 passengers for rail fan trips. Freight service was more like UPS is today. Small packages and food supplies were normal cargo.
