Frozen Start Menu. :'-(

Heres what happened, medium length.

I had trainz (06) running and my computer overheated and turned off.
Then when i turned it on again, and clicked on the tab to bring up the start menu, it froze when I clicked on "start".

Usually a bar comes up saying something similar to this "some content has not been commited. Continue?". Thats very roughly (from what i can remember) what it should say. Then I click on "continue" and it starts.

This hasn't happened, its frozen.

That has occasionally happened to me when something has caused my computer to shut off without the opportunity to leave 06 gracefully. I think when the start screen seems frozen Trainz is trying to regain consciousness and sort itself out from being sucker punched. Try letting it run that way for a while, sometimes it has taken 15 or 20 minutes or more for me, and I think you will find that it will come back to life when it is ready.

Yours comp overheating because at a guess Its dusted up to its eyeballs. The CPU heat sink and fan and every other orifice will be clogged up so the cooling system can't keep the temperature down.
Either that or something going down the pan very shortly.
Once that issue has been sorted you could try deleting the assets bku file (I think) or TDX and let the database rebuild itself. Someone will confirm which file it is i'm sure.

I would suggest running memory diagnostics and other system tools/checks to check the hardware as the heat can be detrimental and cause latent failures, or failures that occurr later on long after the original problem was solved.
