Floridian High Speed Train Project is dead!!

HSR is all well and good except where is this money coming from? I certainly don't want my taxes going towards a useless project as such...Not to mention it would cost more then what the government takes in in taxes anyway...So where is this money coming from? OH RIGHT we are gonna borrow more from China! Forgot about that...let's just put up the signs that say "Owned by China" now....

Honestly, you cannot pay for something that you do not have. Anyone who put themselves into debt this much would've had the check book and credit cards taken away from them A LONG LONG time ago...but not the mighty US...we will keep spending on pointless crap until China officially owns us outright.

SuperFud, how has the rest of the wrold gone the wrong way if they are into modern and progressive rail travel?

1. Many of the States in the USA are having cash flow issues and need to cut teachers and public service workers to save money.

2. The USA debit is about $14,000,000,000,000 so the government will not be able to support the States with cash.

3. No CEO will invest his/her companies cash for passanger rail service knowing in advance that it will not make a profit.

4. The business community always needs to be somewhere "now" so air travel is a must to meet customer schedules.

5. Americans are addicted to driving their vehicles, regardless of gas prices.

There are probably more reasons too numerous to list.

Have fun,

Who needs HSR anyway? I just bought a Chevy Volt with the kickback of taxpayer money taking a little off the top so I can park a useless piece of crap in my driveway! Everybody sees it's useless, but no one can criticise it, because all us Americans OWN THE COMPANY! I could almost drive it to work and back except for maybe using the heat or the airconditioner! Now I think you will agree with me that it fits the very definition of "PROGRESSIVE". Nevermind there's dozens of cars that cost less than half as much and get almost 40MPG!

Maybe if I put a sail on the top...

Well, no one can accuse me of not doing my best to take advantage of the American taxpayer as I take steps to combat a problem that DOESN'T EXIST!

Green....yeah; MONEY, and not in YOUR pockets!

Ed,

Didn't GM report a $4.9 Billion profit? Your check is... in the mail.

Have fun,

Perhaps the "C" in CXS may already be Chinese?

[ CSX ]
oo oo

Have fun,

Good one, :D but to quote Wikipedia:

In the public announcement, it was said that "CSX is singularly appropriate. C can stand for Chessie, S for Seaboard, and X, the multiplication symbol, means that together we are so much more."

:p :hehe:

Oh, and as for the "Owned by China" thingy, are you sure that it would not just say "Made in China"? :p :D :hehe: ;)

Regards.

Oh well, guess you yanks can go your own way then (very, very slowly). :p

Paul (zipping along on proposals for high speed rail in the UK)

I think the way the Chinese are buying into American companies/economy and the country increasingly in debt to them maybe getting them involved in rail (their own rail is impressive) it is the way to go, ha, ha. But sadly in the real world it will continue to be the poor relation and limp idea of a national inter-city thing.

it doesnt even matter who wants to go from almost tampa to almost orlando anyhow... the line was to go from nowhere to nowhere. what a joke. i agree it should have been shut down. if they cant do it right they need not waste the money that we dont have on it.

... But it's unrealistic ... every government project will always be over budget in the long run-- our Florida gov killed the project because his studies said it will cost the taxpayers in the long run, but it always like that, it will always cost us, etc ... only one time was our gov without debt and that happened between 1840-44, if memory serve me correctly!
