File too large for CDP

I have a large route under construction. I would like to put it aside to work on other projects (within TANE/TRS2019). I want to store it off my dedicated drive as a CDP but when I try to export it I get the error message "File is too large". Many routes supplied with Trainz come in the form of several parts, presumably beceause the file is too large for just 1 part. Is it possible for anyone to perform this splitting process or is it exclusive to N3V and does anyone know how it is done. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.....Keith

How large is the route??? How many megs? I'm not to sure what the "maximum .cdp" sizes is. I've just saved two routes that I merged into one routes, as a .cdp. (In Tane SP3 HF1 Beta). New saved .cdp size is 673 megs. .. Hope this helps...

Cheers, Mac...

@ meatloaf747 Thanks Mac The editing folder held a file of about 100Mb with the kuid for my route, but when I closed the program that dissappeared. My Local folder listed a Hash folder containing my route kuid as a Tzarc file and that showed as about 5.5 Gb so if thats what its trying to export as CDP I'm not surprised it doesn't like it. That leaves my original query ..... Can I split it down to manageable portions and if so how do I do that

No splitting is possible (winrar etc. like). You just might save parts of the complete assets + route as separate cdp.

Just open CM highlight your route and save as CDP. Even the big routes of 500+ MB will save to CDP. When you closed the programme you left the route in open for edit. you did not submit or restore it, check your open for edit folder.

So how big is your routes .cdp in Content Manger. (Just the route itself's .cdp, not the contents of route)?

5.5 gigs must include all the contents of your route & session. It must be a very LARGE route. In contents manager you should be able to save just the "route only" as one .cdp. Save the Session as a separate .cdp. You could then list the "route contents" in Content Manager and save the "routes" contents in lots of 400 - 500 megs as .cdp's. (xxxx route Part 1) (xxxx route Part 2, etc etc). Same with the "Sessions" contents. You could then import those .cdp's in another installed version of Trainz or keep those "Saved" .cdp's as your backup of the route, session (& their contents).

Foot note; The only problem with this method is you don't save the dependencies of the defendant content. That's not a problem if all YOUR routes contents is either built-in or from the DLS. Once you have re-installed the saved .cdp's, you can just open contents manager, log onto the DLS, and downloaded the missing dependencies. The problem arises when you have a lot of 3rd party content in your route & session. You have saved the route & sessions content, but not the dependencies of each of those bits of content. :o

To split the Route, open in Surveyor, do a Save As My Route Part 1, delete half the base boards. Open original do a Save As My Route Part 2, delete the other half of the baseboards. Then save each '1/2' as CDP's. Will require a Merge to reassemble.

I use this technique to cut out pieces of routes to add to other routes without merging the whole route. Tedious but it works.
