Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland WIP

Hi there i was just wondering if there any updates on the route because recently I have been on the Ffestiniog and the Talyllyn railway I would love to see this when it is released could you post a screenshot of tan-y-bwlch and Ffestiniog station please

OK, however both areas still need work replacing temporary buildings with actual ones.

Looking Good! Those locations are instantly recognisable. Just out of interest, how long do you think it will take to complete the route? Not that it will ever be properly complete, as everytime you think it is the real F&WHR will (re)build something to make it out of date! (or is the route anchored to a specific date?)

Probably another couple of months, the intention was for a present day version of course the Portmadog bypass and the revamping of Harbour Station is messing that up a bit, as they appear to sticking to the last published plan, I may just jump the gun and do the revised harbour station. I'm off up there in just over a week for a couple of days just to check a few things out. Using the new layout would make creating sessions a lot easier than all this shunting WHR stuff.

However, I'm backing up as is first. The DEM I knocked up covers the Brygwn Branch and quarries, currently, I've put the footpath on the lower bit for now so should be easy enough to "Restore" the branch, also got the lower portion of the Croesor Tramway from around the first incline to Croesor Junction plus redo Porthmadog in it's slate days and undo the new deviation bit's of the WHR and FR drain a large puddle and delete a few thousand trees!

The ability to backdate to a 1920s version is certainly appealing, although a version featuring all the various railways that were never actually in existance at the same time might be fun. Caernarfon to Llan Festiniog via the F&BR, with junctions to Bryngwyn, Croesor, Gorseddau, Dinas and Rhiwbach...

Coincidently I'm also hoping to visit the FR in a couple of weeks time!

It's looks excellent clam instantly recognisable I spent a while at tan-y-bwlch have you put the lake in? Also your Ffestiniog and welsh highland wagons/locomotives/rolling stock is great could you post a picture of the power station and dam near Blaenau Thanks James this is certainly worth upgrading my graphics card and buying trainz 2012 and getting an fct

Sidings at Ddualt

This route is spell bounding! Can't wait to get my hands (or cursor) on this!

By the way, ages ago you posted a screenshot of Ddault with the run-around loop in the right hand side. I saw this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-EkOpyu5tE&hd=1) and thought that they must have done something about the weeds, yet unless you heve changed it since that screenshot, your loop there still looks rather weedy.
Its not very important to the overall route, but thought i'd point it out.

I too will have to upgrade when it comes out.

EDIT- You can see the sidings at Ddault from 3:45 on the video I put a link to.

The weeds depend on what was there when last seen, there are videos with weeds and without as well as photo's, I've seen both, actually just come back from a FR / WHR trip to check up on a few things, never looked at the loop as was checking out the original route or what I could see of it.

Malc,

I've just checked a video I took 2 weeks ago and can confirm that all the track at Dduallt is weed free and looks to be in good condition.

Thanks for that Kevin. I shall do some weeding. Had a fairly uneventful trip yesterday behind Lyd to BF and back....... apart from the unscheduled stop on the way back to wait apparently for a sheep to get out of the way. Rest of the time I've been dashing around getting shots of various locations on both the FR and WHR, got extremely wet today in the process. Did catch Linda doing her first scheduled run on Coal, I asked how she was doing and was told we are about to find out! Missed out on that, knew I should have taken a later train.....

Hope you enjoyed your trip on Lyd. If you were on the 14.25 train then I may have seen you, as I was on Porthmadog platform watching Lyd return :)

I spent most of yesterday travelling on my first full trip on the WHR. I had travelled all the railway before, but never in one go. It's a great experience, esp with yesterday great weather.

I'm envious that you got to see Linda coal fired. Shes my favourite loco :)

cheers,
kevin

Well both ladies are being converted to coal as waste oil can't be burnt and red diesel is too expensive to use more than on one offs. Robco and one other lad did all the work on Linda and it took then 2 months to stop her chucking sparks, so Blanch should be a quicker job but it needs new piston valves which have been partially made.
thanks
Patrick

amazing route there Malc, one bit of feedback; i recommend using the straighten track tool before any curve or turnout and try to keep vertex's to a minimum on curves between the two straight bits.

Cant wait to get a look at it

Whoops, normally I do use the Straighten tool, must have missed those.

Yes Kevin I was on the 1425 and apart from the screaming kid on the outgoing trip I enjoyed it.
The video question, no I'm not as that was taken earlier, I arrived in BF just before the railtour departed.
I camped at the Beddgelert Forest Camp Site about 50 yards from the station, seemed to be the best way to a proper impression of the area, as someone said earlier, it needs more trees!
