Wow, what a marathon thread: Virginia & Truckee

Hi folks,

I just had to jump in, this thread came up today in my Google news alerts for Virginia and Truckee. This thread has been going on for some time, quite interesting.

I notice that the V&T is only mentioned once. People here in Northern Nevada tend to overestimate the popularity of the V&T, it's a great railroad but there's a lot of railroads to like.

I'm sure I missed it, but somewhere in there should also be Durango & Silverton, Grand Canyon, Cumbres & Toltec and more.

It's funny, the people running the government recon project quote a German visitor who said the V&T is on the top ten railroad shortlines list and the only one he's visiting in the US. I think the German should read this thread and get some ideas.

MILWAUKEE ROAD!!! I'm biased though, I grew up around Tacoma, WA and saw those poor idiots run the worst equipment on such bad track and STILL kept goin!!!

Denver And Rio Grande railroad both narrow and standard gauge best railroad built :D and I like the Baitmore and Ohio railroad as well
