Hi. New to Trainz. Using 2004.
My environment is built. I'm now attempting to add trains, but soon as i do i get a
clip_image002.jpg
fatal error message:

Class: Hardware
Reason: Access Violation

Exception @ 17E66B0 in C:\WINDOWS\system32\igldev32.dll

Recoverable exception: Yes

There's more data following that, but it's dense and cryptic, so i'll wait to hassle with posting that unless it's necessary.

Hope someone can help.

Fatal Errors are just a part of Trainz that you'll have to learn to put up with. I get at least one every day.

I don't think anyone can really pinpoint what causes them. I've asked questions here about them before and never got an answer that would PREVENT them.

Sheesh. I guess i'm lucky that it turns out the assignment I've been working on apparently didn't require any trains.

Still, if i did i'd be screwed. Could it be a driver problem maybe...or something a reinstall might cure? Has anyone encountered this specific problem before, or am i just special?

Full specs of your comp and the full error message would be of more help in trying to solve the problem. With it being hardware it looks like it could be graphics related. Do you have up to date drivers for graphics. Other things to consider are to install the following..

Trainz Objects, Paint shed, Trainz Tuner and service pack 4, if not already installed.

It's probably related to what you were doing at the time. If you were in Surveyor placing a rolling stock vehicle on a track, that particular rolling stock vehicle is the obvious suspect.

If you can narrow it down to one item (not always possible of course) then someone might be able to help more.

Here's a hint right here to your problem:

Exception @ 17E66B0 in C:\WINDOWS\system32\igldev32.dll

The igldev.dll is part of the Open/GL drivers. What kind of video card are you using?

Are your drivers up-to-date?

Try switching to DriectX from the default of Open/GL

This can also be caused by a corrupt texture on the train car or locomotive you are placing on your layout. Have you tried a different piece of rollingstock in its place?

Please post your spec of your machine this will be really helpful for us to help troubleshoot your problem.
