Fatal Error when merging layout

I have a problem, I want to merge two large layouts together but when I do, a fatal error comes up if I try scrolling to a certain spot or toward the merge area. What can I do about this? The layouts are Port Clinton to Jim Thorpe and Lehigh Gorge several miles north of Jim Thorpe made by Roon from uslw, and the other layout is Lehigh Gorge to Waverly, NY by me. It's supposed to be a recreation of the Reading and Northern Railroad. The layout by Roon also has all the branch lines as well of the Reading and Northern, and the other layout has the entire Wilkes-Barre area. Could it be that the layouts are too large to merge because I don't have enough system memory? I have 2 GB of RAM.

Hello

It could be faulty content, scripting error or a problem with the session causing the fatal error on your PC and also fatal errors are caused by a number of other things like software or hardware configuration on your PC, you just need to narrow down the search to get to the root of the problem.

merging

I found this procedure works (most times :) )

1. launch trainz, start surveyor;
2. do the merge and immediately "save as..." <new route name>, immediately exit surveyor, immediately exit trainz and Log out or reboot [to absolutely clear anything cached]
3. continue ...

Good luck,
cheers,

I was wondering, is there a limit to the number of baseboards or size of a layout? Could it be that there's too many baseboards in both layouts that I'm trying to merge that's causing Trainz to crash? I just tried it again, and it crashes during the merging process, it goes to the desktop and the fatal error window appears and forces me to quit Trainz. Would a solution be to delete unnecessary baseboards on both routes? Because I tried merging smaller layouts to both routes as a test and it worked without crashing. How large can a single layout be?

I got it to work. I deleted an unfinished section of the layout that I didn't need, about 50 miles worth at the north end because the railroad I'm modeling (Reading and Northern in Pennsylvania) doesn't own the tracks on the section I deleted (former Lehigh Valley RR from Meshoppen, PA to Waverly, NY) the tracks on that section are owned by Norfolk Southern but going to the Owego Harford next year. It must be the size of the layouts, or something with the two particular layouts that I was trying to join, but when I reduced the size of the one, it worked. I kept backups of the full undeleted layout between Lehigh Gorge several miles north of Jim Thorpe, PA and Waverly, NY in case I needed them again.
