Extended Trial Period

I presently have Platinum as a base program with Silver for additional "goodies". If I purchase Open Beta (to get features), and retain Silver & Platinum, will there be any impact on the Platinum and Silver products? My assumption is that I will be able to use Platinum OR Open Beta at any time and keep all of the DLS from Silver and Platinum.

Almost "Pulled The Trigger"
Just log in to MyTrainz and use the appropriate discount code to enjoy a whole month free.
Offer available for new members only.
Requires credit card to join. Cancel at any time.

PS: The convoluted procedure to purchase things from N3V has to cost a few sales or upgrades.
If the objective is to gain revenue then a simple one-stop shopping experience is needed. You do not want to make things multi-step and give the customer the opportunity to become unhappy and reconsider their decision. Very poor structure.

My own experience: because I had bought an Auran product in...2009... I do not have access to the trial (invalid discount code). "NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY" in my case (and "NEW MEMBERS" for you. What I don't get is that the offer is listed in MY DASHBOARD and that they keep on sending me emails about such offer. Very poor marketing.

They have offers all the time for existing customers. Check your newsletter if you are interested unless you unsubscribe.

To clarify, the free trials are open to people who have not previously had a "Trainz membership". You can be a MyTrainz member / customer since the year dot and qualify.

However if you have been a member previously, then you're not "trying" the membership but rather just "getting it free".

P.S. The breadth of options also ensures there's something for everyone. If we only had memberships, we'd lose lots of customers. If we only sold one version of Trainz we'd either be missing out on people happy to get the "top of the range" model or we'd be missing out on the bargain hunters.

Henry Ford got away with one model. That was 100 years ago. These days our customers want choice. Given that our sales are better now than when we offered one model, I think we'll just have to deal with a bit of confusion and hope we continue to explain things better so that there is less confusion.

Sir, you totally lost me...

1) I've never had a FIRST CLASS ticket membership => I thought that offer was to try it ??!!
2) I bought an AURAN product in...2009 !

What happened due to this is that being a TS player for years I've just purchased TSW with many DLCs. I ended up spending more than $300 and I'm not sorry to say that I'm having a blast with it.

I simply wanted to try TZ 2019 and the FIRST CLASS ticket (Gold membership). I am SO sorry I asked. Please forgive me. You don't need my $ I understand. But please don't send me this offer any more !!

Wishing you great sales and as always, happy TRAINing to you and the great community. That's the most important!

Perhaps a simple criticism:

You do not hype a sale with large color print, with graphics, and then "at the end" define the restrictions.
A reaction to this is likely to be negative. Customers were all stirred up as they read the offers presentation only to find that is is restricted to a specific class. I believe that most people, who developed an interest, as they read the release, would be disappointed. We are in a time of high stress so the triggers for disappointment are sharpened. Defending the practice of small print at the end of the piece only insures that some number of sales may have been effected.

At the risk of being banned for speaking the truth, do you really think that N3V give two hoots about a handful of people upset by fine print, when they have already demonstrated that they care not about "prior"* (N3V's term for existing users, since only those who are actively paying a fee for recurring billing are classified as "customers") customers being upset that since they, N3V, have purchased the Auran Trainz franchise, they have yet to FINISH a version of the software, fixing, patching, or repairing the bugs that exist, before abandoning that version for a completely "new" version, which requires a whole new purchase, not simply an upgrade fee, or god forbid, a free upgrade, like other sims do?

I mean seriously, if we're being honest, we must acknowledge that this is just par for the course, when it comes to N3V business practice, and sadly, it is rubbing off on a few 3rd party payware content providers as well... New slogan: "N3V, we sell disappointment and frustration!"

I'm still waiting, after several years, to be able to use my existing N3V PAYWARE DLC in TANE ... I'm looking at you Murchison2 and Classic Carbon City ... but no, we've moved on to 3-7 other versions of a "new" version of software (TRS19-regionals, plus, silver, gold, platinum), because it looks prettier. Who cares if it actually WORKS!

It is not financially sustaining to try to fix all, or more bugs, between versions. New releases show more income than bug fixes. Probably because few contribution$ are made as a thank-you for fixing a bug. Charging for fixes is counter-productive.
Unless N3V receives a significant investment we will see fixes/updates at the current pace. Unfortunately, elimination
of some customer paychecks limits this flow.

Personally, given the current financial situation, I would also proceed at the same pace as the past. This is one
business that benefits from customers being stuck at home spending to mitigate boredom.

While some suggest that you can borrow at zero interest no one will write paper to lend their money at that rate, so that avenue is frozen.

I don't know. It seems other developers are doing just fine, if not better, financially, using a whole other business model.

--After spending an hour typing and erasing my argument/debate, N3V's forum signed me out for inactivity, and it simply is not worth it anymore trying to fight the power, by voting with my wallet .. the election is rigged, and I have been disappointed and defeated by their business practices for far too long.

Fare well, fellow human
