just a couple of sugestions...
If the ram is matching peers, eg; 2x2gigs (or 4x1gigs) from the same manufacturer, my sugestion is leave the 4 gigs in your machine. (I've experimented with both 2 & 4 gigs of ram in my system running Trainz).
Mind seems to work better with 4gigs, rather than 2gigs.
When running large detailed routes on my system, my systems often uses between 1.75 to 1.9 gigs of memory. That's not including the memory that required by "the system/os". (Running TRS2006 on XP Pro).
If this problem is occuring while you are running a large detailed route, try running a smaller, less detailed route and see if the problem still occurs.
Also try switching your Trainz screen resolution down to the mimimun, 800 x 600 and see if the problem still occurs. (I used to occasionally get the same error message when trying to run large detailed routes in 1680 x 1050 mode, with all the setting's maxed out).
You could also try moving the
"detail" &
"draw" setting over towards the left hand side on the
'setting slider' and see if that makes any difference on that route.
If none of these fix the problem, you may have a faulty asset/s in that route.
From MS site;
Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 Memory Support. The maximum amount of memory that can be supported on Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 is 4 GB.
Operating systems based on Microsoft Windows NT technologies have always provided applications with a flat 32-bit virtual address space that describes 4 gigabytes (GB) of virtual memory. The address space is usually split so that 2 GB of address space is directly accessible to the application and the other 2 GB is only accessible to the Windows executive software.

llebrez, my appoligies for disagreeing with you on the ram issue. (2 gigs vs 4 gigs). No cirticism intended.
Cheers, Mac...
