Email problems with the helpdesk

Yo basically need to copy three files BEFORE you uninstall. These can be found in (default location) C:\Program files\Auran\TRS2006. They are the folder named Local, and two files, one called assets.tdx, one in the cache folder (may not exist) called assets.bku. Copy these to a safe location, and copy them back in, deleting the originals, once you have reinstalled.

Cool. Thanks. Once I find the time, I'll do it and get this over with. Thank you very much for all the advice everyone. I'll post how things come out. You know, with Vista, you never know what comes next. Sometimes I wish I was back on XP.:hehe:

So I've copied local and assets.tdx over and, like you said, assets.bku wasn't there.

Hey, I've found another problem that i think fixing trainz won't fix: how do I get the Content Creator to work? When bring it up all I get are blank windows and I can't go to file to try something like "new project." Anybody know what to do here?

Well, I finally got around to reinstalling the program............IT WORKED!!!!! I still have my routes, all the engines and cars I've downloaded, AND the preset rules are available and working. Thank you so much everyone for all of your help.

Wouldn't you know it, I finally get rid of the problems that have been plaguing me for eons and new ones decide to rear their ugly faces. Anybody got any suggestions on how to fix these?

1) In the drivers command bar the "decouple" command has disappeared, meaning I have to decouple cars manually (not a huge hassle I know, but when I want to have multiple trains running at the same moment, its nice to have everything automatic).

2) The C-16s that I downloaded off of http://www.steammachine.com/prowler/downloads/Trainz_TRSlocos.htm have decided to start giving me problems. They were the best locomotives I had on the program- beautiful, well-designed, and very realistic in running- but now, if I want to run them in DCC mode, the little nob to make them go has disappeared. To make them go I have to use the keyboard commands.

3) With many of the content in the program now, when I place them on the track in surveyor, a message comes up telling me that there are problems with the cars. It's all gibberish to me, and it doesn't seem to affect the way the cars work, but it'd be nice not to have to deal with the message all the time.

Thanks everyone for the help you've been giving me. Thanks to everyone who helps me with this too. It's incredible how hard it is to make this program work well on Vista (you know, one of Microsoft's computers that are comparable to an Apple :hehe:).
