Easy way to level objects with ground?

Whats the best method to getting an object to lay level on the ground? Should the ground be level first? Is that the rule to follow or is there a trick to getting the ground underneath it to conform to the object?

You can level before or after

If you place a building and you can see part of it seems buried, just get out the plateau tool and level the area - the building will adjust (assuming you have not made manual height adjustments to the building).

I find that in an urban environment its easiest to have a larger area with the exact same elevation, which is where the plateau tool using a predetermined elevation comes in handy.

Or you can lower the building to have part of it below grade as many buildings are built this way. Use the vertical adjust feature.

It's easier if buildings are created with foundations (below surface level) which is the practice of some creators - some of my buildings are made this way, including steps which show when the building is raised on sloping ground. This is prototypical and ensures that no part of the actual building is hidden.

Re buildings with foundations

I wish more buildings came with foundations for slopes - as it is, it's very challenging building a dense urban environment on hilly terrain. But with building bases and retaining wall splines, it can be done - it's just time consuming.
