Absolute elevation

In Trainz22PE, using S2.0, I place a new object and give it a Z value (elevation) If I then move it in the XY plane to align with other existing objects, the Z value changes, following the local ground. Is there a way to make the Z value fixed so it doesn't change automatically?

No easy way that I have found.

The only thing that I can think of (and I just tried it to confirm) is to
  1. set the z: value to the desired height,
  2. copy the height (via the z: down arrow icon) to the Tool Options Height setting,
  3. move the object to its desired x: y: position
  4. open the object Context menu
  5. select the Apply Height option

Thanks for confirming what I've been doing. Wish there was a way to make the object value sticky while I move it around.

What they need to implement for this is absolute height. The height of an object will still remain at the same height relative to the ground regardless of where the object is placed. Not having this makes placing objects and then adjusting the terrain under them really annoying because the objects need to be readjusted again and again to set them into place at the new height.

Actually what I need is an absolute height setting so no matter how the ground goes up or down, the object maintains the same elevation value. Or relative to sea level which would be the same thing.

Yes, this is really annoying when building underground stations and tunnel portals etc. In that case, the Z value needs to stay the same.
