East Kentucky

Thanks again for the comments :)

Tell me, is this based on the route L&N used to run between Corbin, Kentucky and Knoxville, Tennessee?

Nope - that was the Cumberland Valley Division. The East Kentucky Division was Winchester to Deane. It was a stub-end division in L&N days. CSX joined the L&N tracks to ex-C&O tracks at Deane to make it a through route. L&N and C&O actually served the same mine at Deane, but there was no connection...

Andy, I am curious about something. Is the grass in the above image a permanent part of the route or was it just put in for the screenshot?

Andy, this is the only thing that is keeping me from deleting Trainz off my computer right now. I can't wait to shoot a video with this masterpiece.

CSX had F units?

whether they did or not, awesome scene.

CSX had a handful of F units. Back in the late 80s-early 90s, these units hauled freight across southern track, in places such as EASTERN KENTUCKY :p . Anyway, once CSX got bigger and better units, the F units were taken out of service. Some were painted in YN2, and some were leased to other railroads such as MARC. So, to answer your question, yes, CSX had F units.

Dermmy,

This route looks incredible. Calling it a masterpiece would only be hitting the tip of the iceberg. Well done.

Same here. I deleted 2010 off my PC long ago. A complete waste of time and disc space. I'm waiting for this layout, then I'm done. I have all the good ones from 2006, and then I'm sticking with those. No more Trainz versions for me.

Enny nooz on the realease date Derm? Maybe just part of it as a teaser?

^ IMHO TS2010 is the best version EVER. I have been running my Ozark Valley route (designed for TS2010 <kuid:101046:1102>) for two months now and absolutely no crashes, Fatal Errors, stuttering, etc. that I get with TRS2006. I have no use for any versions below TS2010 now. I'm sticking with this newest and best version of TRAINZ ever.

In My Humble Opinion, of course.

I have absolutely no idea what the release date will be, not even a wild guess. It is taking waaaayyyyyyy longer than I thought it would.

Bad news for some, but good news for others is that I am pretty certain that EK3 will be a TS2010 route. I have recently moved construction out of 04 and into the newer version. To those who don't have 10 yet, or who have tried it and quit, my apologies. I just find that the route runs and looks WAY better in 10 and I am rapidly coming to terms with the issues I had with the 2010 Surveyor content search mechanisms. The route never ran well in 04, I always ran it in 06 but even there it was becoming something of a slide-show. In TS2010 it runs with more than acceptable framerates, but best of all even when the rates are low it is still smooth with very little (if any) stuttering. On the 'Surveyor' side, most of the background trees are copy/pasted in largish blocks and as the size of the route files increase the pasting lag in 04 Surveyor was getting out of hand. In 10 the 'Paste' function is instant.

To those who have tried 10 and quit I would humbly point out that NOBODY canned 2010 harder than I did when it first appeared. I thought it sucked. With perseverance I am quite happy to admit I was wrong - dead wrong.

Hang in, it's worth it...

While drooling over this route, and talk of perseverance with 2010 ... what am I going to do with this absolutely huge 65 Gb TRS2006 "local" file I have been amassing, and its contents. Can the TRS2006 local file be sent dirrectly into 10, or copy and paste just the contents of a TRS2006 "local" file into 10 ? How bout a gigantic 65 Gb CDP ?

Man your route(s) are great ! Can't wait till I get into 10 also.

Sorry for the sidetrack.
