Eagles Pass WIP Screenshot Thread

Hello Fellow Trainz Forum Members.

Today, Andrew aka Kingstonflyer and I want to make it official at this time and announce that we have been working on a fictional route over the last couple days called Eagles Pass. The route is a fictional desert route and has a southwest USA flavor to it. We are creating the route for Trainz 2010, But it could possible work for Trainz 2012 as well.

Here is what the route will include and they are as follows:

- There will only be one version of the route
- 75 to 125 miles of double mainline running
- The route will be highly detailed
- Over a dozen bridges all together
- 1 or 2 tunnels are possible
- Alot of mainline running with some switching oppotunities as well
- 2 medium cities on the end of each route with 2 or 3 small towns in between
- A yard in each of the medium size cities while there will be 1 small yard in one of the small towns along the route

Now, Here is what each of us are doing on the route and they are as follows:

Andrew aka Kingstonflyer
- All of the Trackwork
- Telephone poles - Powerlines
- Most of the roads
- Bridges
- Tunnels if there are any
- Signals

Myself aka Eaglefan9727
- Creating the mountain terrain
- Ground texturing
- Vegatation
- Scenery such as buildings and so forth
- Rivers and lakes
- Adding the baseboards

As of right now, We only have a few miles laid out for the route and about a couple miles of scenery completed. The way we are doing this is that Andrew will lay down about 15 to 20 miles of track at a time and the other stuff. When he gets done with that. He will send me the updated version of the route and I will do all the things that I am doing for the route. And once I get those 15 to 20 miles done. Then, I will send him the updated version of the route, So he can do another 15 to 20 miles or Andrew and I will take turns with the route on a weekly basis.

As of right now, We have no idea when this route will be ready. It will get done when it gets done and both of us are happy with the results. Every Monday, I will be posting a couple WIP screenshots of the route, So you can see how the route is going. As for Andrew, I am not sure when or if he will post some WIP screenshots to share with you. That decision will be at his own discretion.

At this time, We would like to share the first 4 work in progress screenshots of Eagles Pass. These shots were taken at 10:00 in the morning with all of the settings on high (Even the draw distance at 5000), But with default skies. Please note: The first two shots are taken of areas where the route is 100 percent completed while the last two shots. I still have to add scenery to those areas.

Take care,
Eaglefan and Kingstonflyer

You have to ask Andrew that question as he is the one that chose the scenery for the route.

Its good to see your back at it Randy.

Thanks my friend. Been about 2 years since I was in MSTS and almost 4 years since the release of Rattlesnake Desert for MSTS.

Reminds me of the landscape of New Mexico :D

That is the kind of look that we are trying to get on this route.

Me like, work faster, gimmee gimmee

Before I volunteer to test in TS12 for you, are you sticking to freeware assets from the DLS, or including third party website things that require "hunt the KUID"?

Eaglefan9727: Your route is looking mighty good..May I offer you a suggestion??Use more greenery..not allot..But I am surprised at the greenery in the desert, since I moved here..There are alot of mountains but by no means like mountains in colorado..They are worn down old Mountains, very rugged..Now the greenery does not have the heavy chlorophyll look of the trees in the Midwest..This is only a suggestion..

HA...After about 5 years of knowing each other. The truth is out that you are a "Gimmie Pig" j/k......

As for the freeware assets, I am not sure at this time as of yet. We will have to wait and see about that. As for the testing part, You were one of my choices as I have known you for a long time and I also want to see how the route runs on a slower PC as well.

At this time, I am just more concerned about getting the bones of the desert. I can always come back at a later date and add some greenery to the route. Like I told Sniper, Have to wait and see about that.

Update for Monday, August 8th -

Its Monday and it is time for a update concerning the Eagles Pass route.

As of right now, Andrew and I have about 4 miles completed on the route with some minor scenery needed in those 4 miles. Andrew has the route this week and is laying some more track for the route while I will be taking care of some family matters this coming week. I should be ready to get back into the route building mode on Saturday, August 13th. Andrew and I have came up with some interesting ideas for the route and we will see if we can put those ideas into the route at some point down the line.

Anyways, I have 3 screenshots to share with you this week. The scenery is completed in the first 2 shots while there is only the telephone poles and lines near the track still left to do in shot # 3. Have a good week and take care.

Its Monday, So its time for another update on the Eagles Pass route project.

Here are 4 new shots of a area that was done this past week. This area is where the double mainline splits apart for about 3 miles or so. There is also a reservoir in this area of the route. This part of the route was done by Andrew aka Kingstonflyer. This week, I have the route and I will be adding some minor touch ups, scenery, and the terrain for the route. Andrew and I have reached out first town, But at this time. I will be holding off on doing the buildings on the town until Andrew gets done with the small yard and I create the terrain for that part of that area. Im hoping to have a small WIP video and have it to you by next Monday. As promised, Here are 4 shots.

Due to hurricane Irene hitting my area in a few hours from now and who knows if I will have power on Monday. I have decided to give you the weekly update today instead of Monday. Right now, Andrew has the route, But today (Sunday). He should be sending me a updated version of the route of what he has done over the last week on the route. Who knows when I will be able to get a chance to take a look at what he has done over the last week and when I will be able to get anything done either. Hopefully, Hurricane Irene wont hit us that bad up where my wife and I live, But we are in the direct path of it with the latest track as of 11:00 pm EST. Anyways, Here are 2 WIP shots that I wanted to post for this update.
