Downloading into 09/10

Hi Brad

I should have said that on the Download Station 'black page', I first click on 'detailed', then when the screenshot etc. opens I click on 'download page' rather than doing that in the black screen - I don't know whether this makes any difference, but doing so gives me the option of opening or saving the file - and I choose the latter, as stated above.

However, thinking about this, it may be a function of my live anti-malware protection which may not allow opening without first checking whether to open or to save. Might it be worth while looking at your anti-virus software? (Just a suggestion - I don't really know much about that sort of thing.)

Ray

Morning Ray

I dont use any anti virus programes on this system.

only whats built into win 7 64bit,which is Microsoft Security Essentials.

Brad

P.S What is "black screen" never come across that before?

Hi Brad

Same here - I use Microsoft Security Essentials which came 'built-in' with my new computer last Summer. I also have Malabytes AntiMalware and SuperAntiSpyware, also built-in. So clearly that is not your problem.

By 'black screen' I mean the first page of the Download Station when you go to it direct using the link http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php

I'm not really sure what else to call it - the background is black! This is what my Favourites link goes to, although the link is actually called 'Trainz Railroad Simulator 2004' - a throwback to days gone by.

I wish I could help more but not having had the same problem as you I don't know what else to suggest.

Ray

Later - I've just realised that before downloading anything from the Internet, the file is checked by 'SmartScreen Filter' which tells me before I click 'save' that no problems have been found. (The other option is 'open'). Does your computer have this feature?

Strange that - even though I have Windows 7, I do not have Microsoft Security Essentials, but I do have Windows Defender (although I use AVG for my antivirus/antispyware, so Defender is switched off)

Brad, if you can, a screenshot of one of the 'white pages' will be a help - also if you have any download manager software installed.

Shane

Perhaps I ought also to have said that I use XP - I opted for this on the new computer having heard that TACS/GMax was not compatible with Windows 7. I now believe that this may not be so.

Ray

Hi,
@ Shane i dont know how to put screen shots here ,so ive put a link of a photo of what i get with just download and download cart in DLS http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgu...ndsp=14&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:75&biw=1003&bih=583

lol didnt think a web address could be so big,
I have no download manager software.
There is one thing thats odd,my FTP ...never put my pasword in as i dont know how/where to put it, Auran gave me a password but never figured out where it goes.

Brad

@ Ray,thanks all the same ray you tried your best and gave me a lot of your time on this.
Very much appreciated by me.
Cheers Brad

Looking at the error, if that is indeed the error you are getting, the problem is that you do not appear to be running Trainz as administrator.

Shane

Hi,
this got on my nerves ,so i reinstalled Trainz2009.

Now it sends it to a file and not CM.

so i ran a Network test in CM 3,3,these are the 2 errors :-

The errors shown are normal at the moment, due to the fact that the free server(s) are still getting full at different times of the day, and that is basically confirming that - there is nothing that users can do to clear that error, apart from possibly trying at another time of day.

When you reinstalled it, did you make sure that it is set to run as administrator if using Windows Vista or 7 (and run Content Manager at least once as admin)?

Shane

Cheers yet again Shane,

I did all the above that you said.
im still downloading but sending content/files to a download file on desktop.

Ive gone to a CDP file on my desktop and guided it to my CM 3.3,
it goes there but none of my CDP show up correct in the desktop file....meaning they dont show up as a orange icon with CDP on it,
but they still load to my CM and i can also make a CDP file from CM 3,3 to save to a desktop file,
but not as a CDP icon.

Maybe it will come back to normal, once i reboot computer?

Thanks shane.

Brad

That's a bit odd - it should still have the right icon, but there may be another way...

You can use the Import CDP option in Content Manager to quickly install the .cdp files you are downloading, or you can use Content Manager to install the items directly from the DLS.

Shane

I have done that to,
I look on the DL and once i find something i copy paste it in search in CM 3.3 then it downloads and commits it.
All fun and games with this game, never a moments rest lol,

Just another question while you are here Shane...is it ok to clone and reskin rolling stock etc. For just my own use..as ive been doing a few up till now to change them to UK companies (royal post boxcars/containers...Tankers to BP/UK milk/UK Gas..British coal to hoppers ..uk wheat/corn/barley) just doing a container depot that has only UK containers list goes on.?

Thanks again Shane
Brad
