I have scoured the forums with regard to the "non downloading" and have tried just about every option suggested to solve this fault.
Two Pcs both running TRS2009 and XP - the new one with all specifications far in excess of requirements. The PCs are independent of each other and neither will download via download station.
Everything shows as before (yes this worked until recently) and it indicates it is downloading but the speed remains at zero and no progress bar operating.
I would like to know what "exception info" should be entered in firewall exceptions as this may be the stumbling block here.
Have been trying to overcome this for several days. Any help appreciated.:'(

Use "Download via FTP" This will work, PM if it does.

Sorry to be a pain in the you know where but FTP just times out. What I cannot understand is why both PCs are responding in the same way - no network and therefore completely independant.
I read in one post that a block was in place and had to be removed via the helpdesk - possible ?:wave:

Which firewall program are you running?

I'm running AVG anti-virus and Windows XP firewall (Service Pack 3) on both PCs. The exception list for the firewall shows "Trainz" - perhaps this is not the right name.

Disable Windows firewall and install Sygate Personal Firewall. I can help you from there.

I've got a Cisco 837 modem/router with a stateful firewall, and I still cannot get CM2 to work all the time. For some reason, maybe 1 out of 50, it does work. Go figure!!

I have disabled the firewall in my Cisco 837, meaning I have no protection, still the same problem. Running XP Pro 64-bit windows.

I have now installed SPF and it shows in the application list (ticked) Trainz and CMP - I had a quick look at DLS via CMP but no luck - further help will be appreciated.

This from the TRS2006 Readme may help:

Firewall issues :
When using some features of Trainz, your computer will attempt to connect to the Internet. If you are using a firewall, you may experience issues connecting. Some common solutions are:
Behind a router (NAT Firewall) - Make sure your router is set to allow UDP port 5250 (iTrainz port) to your local IP address.

Windows Firewall - Select the appropriate connection under "Control Panel\Network Connections". Select "Firewall Settings" from the advanced tab, and "Exceptions". Add "\TRS2006\bin\trainz.exe" to the list of exceptions.

Norton Internet Security 200x - Add "\TRS2006\bin\trainz .exe" and "\TRS2006\bin\ContentManager.exe" to your list of allowed applications.

PC-cillin Internet Security 200x - If you have your security set to "high", you need to allow UDP port 5250 (iTrainz port).

I am now using Sygate Personal Firewall with Windows Firewall disabled.
Both above (Norton) applications are listed in exceptions.
Still no good.
Just about to jump off a cliff - problem is I don't like heights !!!:'(

Hi Ron,

For me, Trainz Downloader Pro works fine, I do feel lucky.

But CM2 just does not work. I have had it work sporadically, but those events are few and far between.

You would think if Trainz Downloader Pro works, CM2 would follow, not the case.

"ERROR in FTP - an established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine".
I assume this is as above with the settings for exemptions - have checked and cannot find anything obvious.

I'll make sure to get out of your way!

In your FTP software, try the setting to allow passive transfers. This is needed for firewalls. See if this helps.

Could there be a problem with the DLS at the same time you're trying to test it? I've had that happen before, and its quite frustrating and confusing because there are two problems at the same time.

When I try the Trainz Downloader Pro - and select a Route it finds the dependancies and therefore surely must be connecting to the DLS and then when it tries to download "cannot connect to remote server" - this seems to be a contradiction.
Cannot find anything referring to "passive" in either Sygate Firewall or AVG anti-virus.
Stand clear I am starting my run up !!!
I have tried this over several days and at all times of the day - would not think even I could coincide with a DLS problem - or perhaps ???
