Download Station and TRS2004

I have been trying to download stuff for TRS2004, but when I select "Download All", CMP V2.0 is opened. I have TRS2004 installed here: E:\Auran\TRS2004 and TS2009 here: E:\Auran\TS2009.

I have switched back to TRS2004 and rarely look at TS2009, although I don't want to uninstall it yet. Even so, I can't see why the Dowload Helper should refer to CMP 2.

Anyone got any advice, please?

The following works for switching downloads back from TRS2006 to TRS2004, so it will probably also work for switching them from TRS2009 to TRS2004, I hope.

Using Windows Explorer, go to the C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\Bin folder and double-click the TrainzHelper.exe file.

In the TrainzHelper program, click on Trainz Product and change it to TRS 2004 (23xx) where xx can be any two digits, then Save.

HTH, John

Thanks, John, but the Trainz Product value is already set in this way, and is also greyed out so that it's unalterable.

Cheers

If you've got Vista then you might need to give some files permission to be changed. Sorry, I don't know the details. I hope someone with more knowledge can help you.

Just for info, John, the Download Helper worked the next time I tried it, as though by magic. Since I had done absolutely nothing else on the PC during the interval, not even closing or opening any windows, apart from replying to your memo and trying your tip, I suspect it worked because I had run TrainzHelper.exe directly and so initialised something.

However, the result was "this item has already been installed". Well, it had, but on TS2009, not TRS2004. Therefore I uninstalled TS2009, tried again, and it all worked correctly.

Alan,
When you open your TRS2004 TrainzHelper.txt it should always be pointing to TRS2004 so all you have to do is click the Save button. This will overwrite the pointers in the Windows Registry to make downloads go to TRS2004. This condition will last until the next time that you start TS2009 when the pointers will switch back to TS2009. If you intend to switch back and forth between different versions of Trainz, it is a good idea to put a shortcut link to ..\Auran\TRS2004\Bin\TrainzHelper.txt on your desktop so you can easily switch before downloads to TRS2004.

DLS & TRS2004

1) Is there a way to lock the Trainz Version to TRS2004 and earlier? I find I have to reset the check boxes every time, except sometimes I forget.

2) When I set the search parameters to find Locomotives/UK/Steam Tank, why do I get diesels, an airship and other "not Steam Tank" vehicles?

This happens when the creator has given the wrong details in the config and the DLS thinks these are what you are looking for by the codes in the config

When I download from the DLS I have directed the downloads to a Download Folder and from there I can direct to the version I wish to add to by clicking on the cdp icon and setting the target in the box that appears in the lower section of the dialogue box that opens. I have UTC,04 and 06 installed and this works every time for me. It's possible it might be necessary to "commit" anything installed into 06 before you can use it but as I normally import content into 06 from 04 then I can't be sure.
Cheers
Russell.

Yep, even stuff that comes preinstalled with the game (at least for TRS2006) ends up in weird places, like trees and people under the Buildings section, a house or two in the Flora section and several vehicles and buildings under Scenery, not Vehicles or Buildings.
