Down again?!

Maybe it's suggesting we go outside?
What is this outside you speak of?

Looks to me as if the forum and Wiki have had an IP change, may be wrong but I can't remember 50.97.156.4 being used before? and it's not in the usual run of IP's I associate with N3V, normally it's 174.x.x.x or 173 I think?

Checking via a whois.
It's showing 50.97........ ISP as Softlayer whereas 174 is showing ISP as Theplanet.com both on softlayers Domain though.

Softlayer is according to some sources is now the largest Host on the planet and as it now belongs to IBM, probably means things will get worse........ Bigger does not equal better in my book.

One thing I forgot... the wiki is either hosted by wikia or wikibooks and the forum is hosted by vBulliten, separate from auran hosting...

Hi All
I've checked the DLS here, and it is working correctly now.

We are currently (during the week, not over the weekend ;) ) working on these outages, however this is an ongoing process and as such it may still be a while before it is fully resolved.

Regards

Hi Zec - by the seems of things, it looks like a backup process is taking place during these outages as they always seem to be around 1600/1700 BST - 1800/1900 BST, and the forums and the Wiki seem to go down at the same time, as well as the Download Station.

I'm curious what kind of half-arsed host takes down a (paying) customer's web services whenever a backup needs to be performed? Oh wait, yea, that IBM one.

Seeing as its happening daily at the same time, maybe ThePlanet / Softlayer / IBM have a cleaner who's unplugging the server and is using the socket for the vacuum Cleaner?
